A bad night in Deganwy.
We were desperate for a place to stay for the night. There was a food festival at nearby Conwy, so all the hotels there were full. We checked into the Deganwy Castle Hotel so tired we didn't even look at the room. The rate was 76 pounds, which was more than we had budgeted.
We wished we had checked the room in advance. It was disgraceful. It smelled very stale. The bath had mould along the edge, and the front panel was falling away. The bed linen was very old and needing replacement. The paint around the windows was peeling, and the wood rotting. The decor was in bad taste, and we felt uncomfortable sleeping there.
In the morning, the receptioist was very understanding, and discounted the rate to sixty pounds.
That did not make it right, but it helped.
Until this hotel wakes up to minimum standards of hostelry, I would recommend travelers stay well clear of it.
