Red Roof Inn Washington DC - Alexandria, Alexandria

We have stayed here for several years, more than once a year. It is very convenient to the Huntington Metro station. Last week we stayed for 2 nights and came back with 20 bites from presumably bed bugs in room 106. Rather unpleasant! Otherwise, we noticed deterioration in the accommodations. The sink was cracked, the iron missing and the pillows lumpy. The mattress was not as comfortable as in the past. This is a big deterioration. The pillows and bedding were so nice years ago that I even bought some to bring home. But coming home an itchy, swollen mess from at least 20 bites was really over the top, so beware!

I have grown comfortable with the Red Roof name but this location was terrible! Anytime I see very dark carpeting it makes me suspicious. I was greeted by a very large cockroach. The dark bedspread probably hadn't been laundered in ages, the walls were dingy and the room a size of a closet. It was very very small. From outside I was comfortable with my choice but I checked out of there as soon as the sun rose.
