WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE OF OUR LIVES!!
By Disgusted Traveler, 02/23/09
My wife and I booked this hotel based of previous positive experience with other locations. This particular hotel, however, almost ruined our trip. We didn't get any room service for our entire 3 day stay. We had the same sheets, same damp towells, the bed was not made, nor the garbage collected. The bathroom fan did not work, and the basin stopper mechanism was inoperable. The shower hot water was tepid at best. Both our keys stopped working late at night on the second day, so we had to weather the cold and go to the office before we could gain access to our room. On the third and last night the keys did not work again, so that on living, we had to take turns carrying our stuff to the car and one of us watched the door which we left open. Every night we saw shady looking people roaming the balcony style corridors, and the hotel operators must have the same sense of lack of security we had, because after a certain hour all business is transacted through a little opening in a window accessed through a side door, in a little room where de ice and vending machines are located. We got a deal that included free Wi-Fi, which required the use of an Access Card from T-Mobile , good for 24 hrs. Instead of being provided Three cards ( one for each day of our stay) we would run out of Wi-Fi Access late at night and had to do the trip to the office for a new one, and on one occasion I had to wait a considerable amount of time. We dealt with 4 different staff members, and though two of them were nice and even caring, the other two were indiferent and unpolite. We were very relieved when we finally left that dump, and swore never to return. We intend to write a letter to RRI Corporate Headquarters, because we had such positive experiences with other locations that we refuse to accept the way we were treated at Chattanooga and blame the entire Chain. Please!!!! Don't even THINK of staying there!

Stay away from this hotel-BED BUGS
On our trip through TN the major interstate was closed due to a chemical spill and we had to detour through Chattanooga, we decided to stop for the night and I picked the Red Roof in because I knew my dog could stay for free. Our room was not very clean but it was so late and we were so tired we just wanted to sleep. I was shocked when I woke in the morning to small bugs in our bed and blood. I went right to the office and asked the Manager to take a look, he told me it was not bed bugs but would refund our money. I knew he was lying and I got myself and kids clean and got out of the room ASAP. When I got home I looked up bed bugs on the internet and it was what I found in both our beds. It still makes me sick to think my sister and I and my two small kids slept with bed bugs. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL. I reported this to Red Roof Inn Corp. and they were nice but I don’t think the followed up!

Rude, unkind!
By Marisa, 09/10/08
My elderly parents were forced to evacuate Louisiana due to the hurricane Gustav this past August 2008. They called ahead to reserve a room at the Red Roof Inn in Chattanooga. Since they were one car in thousands trying to evacuate, what should have been a 7 hour drive took them about 10 hours. They chose to reserve a room all the way in Chattanooga because they knew there would be no vacancies along the way. My father is blind, so my mother had to do all the driving. When they arrived at the Red Roof Inn, they were told that the room they reserved was no longer available. When my mother protested saying that Reservations promised to post a late arrival notice since my mom was unsure of the traffic conditions, the clerk refused to relent. She was rude and abusive to my elderly parents. A man getting coffee nearby tried to come to my parents’ assistance my telling the clerk that he had been staying at the hotel for 2 days, and most of the rooms in his wing were empty. The clerk argued that those rooms were reserved, and the man said, “well, doesn’t this lady have a reservation?” The clerk was rude to him as well. He left saying he would write a letter to the Red Roof about it. I hope he does. The clerk did not care that she was leaving this elderly couple stranded. She didn’t even feel sorry for them that they have been forced to flee their home that they have known for more than 45 years. I live all the way in Maryland. I wish I lived closer so that they could come and stay with me.

AWFUL!
By MelissaN, 08/01/08
We have stayed at other Red Roof Inns in Tn. and we have been pleased. HOWEVER this one was awful! The room was not clean. There were no clean towels in the room. When we asked for some the desk clerk said to come back later. The steps leading to the room were full of litter and beer cans. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Keep driving
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/26/07
Bit of a dump. Non-smoking room had a pile of ashes in the bathroom. Furniture is nicked, scuffed, etc. One of our beds had clearly not been changed. They have a lovely night window for checking in, makes you wonder what kind of people are staying there. Only saving grace is the price. Best advice is to avoid Swallowford Road all together and keep driving.

Will never stay here again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/04/07
We had reservations for a 3-night stay, Fri, Sat, and Sunday nights. When we arrived, our reservation could not be found. Fortunately, there was still a room available. However, the toilet would not flush. When we reported this to the desk clerk, she was very rude, and said she couldn't do anything about it. We went out to dinner. Upon returning, the toilet still wouldn't flush, and we discovered one of the bed lamps was burned out. Saturday morning, we again reported the toilet problem. Not fixed by evening, plus the beds hadn't been made up. When I reported this, the desk clerk's boyfriend tried to bum a cigarette from me. (I don't smoke.) We canceled the third night and changed motels.

Won't stay here again
By Mary, 12/10/06
The staff was extremely friendly. HOWEVER, when I pulled back the blankets and sheets from the bed, they obviously had not been changed. THere were black curly hairs ALL over them - use your imagination. It was gross. If that major task had been overlooked, I can just imagine what else hadn't been done in the room. Nasty.

A clean, safe and inexpensive stay
By Mark, 12/14/05
If you are traveling on I-75 near Chattanooga and looking for a good night of rest, you can't go wrong here. We've stayed several times and the experience has always been a good one. The staff are friendly, the rooms are very clean, and the rates are surprisingly low. There are many good restaurants within sight of the motel as well. We have stayed here in order to visit downtown Chattanooga, and it wasn't bad--just a drive of a few miles.

Perfect Value/Location
By james, 06/04/05
I went here on Memorial Day weekend. Most area hotels were charging between $80-$150. We only paid $49.00/night here for a practical room with a suite. The hotel is near many nice restuarants & a very large mall. A very safe and nice area. The room was nothing spectacular, but everything was super clean & the staff was very helpful with directions. My wife and I were just wanting an inexpensive hotel located close to attractions here. We were less than a 15 minute drive from the Aquarium & Lookout Mountain. Save $$ and stay there.
