Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Southfield, Southfield

The Southfield residence in is well situated, not far from the M-10 highway. The room was clean and equipped as per the R.I. standards. The staff was friendly. This R.I. did things a little different from others I've staid at: they only served evening hospitality meals Tues-Thurs and skipped monday. But guess what - the food on those nights was much better than I've gotten in other R.I.'s. Even sent out for pizza's from a local place on Thursday night. I was very pleased with that idea. Also...I travel alot and the excersize room (which is upstairs in the clubhouse) was much nicer than usual. No empty room with a treadmill and bike in it, it was a large room with ceiling fans, two nice treadmills, bike, and a big multistation excersize machine. They need to add some mats for ab work and maybe some small hand weights, but it blows away other R.I facilities I've been in. The negative: it's in Southfield, which is a somewhat intimidating place for a stranger. Restaurants scattered about, the nearby supermarkets were older and not the best. North on the M-10 two exits is a nice mall. There was some construction on the streets around the hotel, but no noise problems. Not a bad place to stay in that area, and I would go back.
