Best Place in Cologne to stay! Really!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/15/10
The best location right accross the plaza from Cathedral. Can see it from your room. 2 Museums also cross plaza. Wonderful glamorous lobby, rooms are spacious as are the bathrooms (even by American standards). Nice crisp, clean fluffy comforters, modern flat screen TV, complementary mini bar (Beer and Water). Free internet in Business Center. (pay for internet in room). Marble and iron and decorative rugs every where. Great free breakfast in morning. Very friendly and helpful staff. Train station right on other side of Catheral so very easy walk to hotel with luggage. Only a few blocks from River and Old Town. Great shopping and food close by!

Great location, great people & a lovely service
By Liviu, 12/15/08
We visited Cologne to spy the the famous christmas market. We stayed at the Dom Hotel, located in the city center and very near to the main train station. One christmas market direct in front of the hotel. Realy marvelous view, great hotel, great building and the staff very friendly - the concierge did a great job (gave us some ncie recommandations andknows a lot about Cologne's history). Rooms are very clean and room amenities are as promissed luxurious. Overall it has been a wondeful long weekend and I just encourage all of you to visit the christmas market and have a nice stay at the Dom Hotel.

This place is a DUMP
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/07
No elevator to our room (there was an elevator in the building, but not to where our room was). To get to our room, we had to go down STINKY (as in nauseating) hall congested with staff. This was between several restaurants that were not part of the hotel and their kitchens. Steep, dark stairs with frayed carpet or just plain old linoleum to try to find room, which was through unmarked door then down another little hall on 3rd floor. Room and bathroom ok but VERY small. Oh yes, did I mention hostile front desk staff? Awful experience.

don't stay here if you can avoid it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/07
The staff is as rude as can be and lies about how they distribute rooms. If you are not German, don't expect to be treated appropriately here. The rooms they give to foreigners are tiny little closets facing an ugly little inner courtyard. They put parents and children from an American family on separate floors in awful little rooms with broken amenities (door keys don't work etc.) while placing the Germans in our group in a much nicer room on the same floors as the American parents. I made all the reservations and paid for all the rooms together so I know they should have all been the same rate and category of room. The hotel initially refused to move us to decent rooms without a 75 Euro fee even though there were plenty of other rooms in our price category available. After confronting the staff member that put the Americans into bad rooms while putting the Germans in better rooms, the manager offered to move us to better rooms in our category that were open but had not been offered to us either initially or when we spoke to front desk to complain about how poor our room was. She offered no apology about how the staff had done it, so we declined at that time. Save yourself the heartache of dealing with these people and stay at a decent hotel. Its a big city with plenty of hotels, there is no reason to stay at this place unless you enjoy being lied to and insulted. I travel a lot in the US, Europe and Asia and this place is among the worst I've seen for service anywhere.

Prime Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/13/07
A real prime location, charming staff, enjoyed 3 days stay and got delivered 3 consecutive days an outstanding service. nThe hotel is really close to all sightseeing hotspots and the fine boutiques of cologne are just around the corner.
