don't stay here if you can avoid it

The staff is as rude as can be and lies about how they distribute rooms. If you are not German, don't expect to be treated appropriately here.
The rooms they give to foreigners are tiny little closets facing an ugly little inner courtyard.
They put parents and children from an American family on separate floors in awful little rooms with broken amenities (door keys don't work etc.) while placing the Germans in our group in a much nicer room on the same floors as the American parents. I made all the reservations and paid for all the rooms together so I know they should have all been the same rate and category of room. The hotel initially refused to move us to decent rooms without a 75 Euro fee even though there were plenty of other rooms in our price category available.
After confronting the staff member that put the Americans into bad rooms while putting the Germans in better rooms, the manager offered to move us to better rooms in our category that were open but had not been offered to us either initially or when we spoke to front desk to complain about how poor our room was. She offered no apology about how the staff had done it, so we declined at that time.
Save yourself the heartache of dealing with these people and stay at a decent hotel. Its a big city with plenty of hotels, there is no reason to stay at this place unless you enjoy being lied to and insulted. I travel a lot in the US, Europe and Asia and this place is among the worst I've seen for service anywhere.
