Nice but didn't quite get my moneys worth.
By recent visitor, 3/21/11
The room was adorable and pretty well equipped. We were right on the waterfront which was great! However, the free wi-fi did not work in the room and there was a coffee pot but no coffee. If I had known this I would have brought some or bought some. My husband could not find anything open in the morning for a cup either. It does smell old and the parking lot is tiny but all in all it was a great, quiet location. One of few with an "enclosed" swimming pool whcih was important since it was March and not many are open for the season yet.

Really Great Experience & Great Bargain.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/23/10
Friendly and helpful staff. Step out the door and you are in the ocean. Facilities more than adequate and will kept. For what you get the pricing is a real bargain. Washer, dryer and every thing need for a relaxing time. Nice not to have to go out to eat for every meal. Wish we had come here when the kids were young. Liked it so well we are owners. Can't wait to get back! Parking could use some help but no big deal.

wedding location
By Liz, 5/18/10
The Whaler Inn was a nice place . The family had a nice wedding there. We enjoyed ourselves very much except for the parking however was just terrible. You had to almost back out of the place because there was no way your would follow the arrow they have around the parking lot because they put too many car in a small lot. My husband's truck ended up with damage because he was trying to back up so someone could get out so he had a place to park and he ended hitting one of the poles. I would recommend being very careful parking there. They NEED abigger lot. We talked to 3 couples and they said they would never go back because of the parking

We LOVE this place
By TAH, 2/17/10
We have been coming to the Whaler for a while now. After a few visits, we became owners and now own five weeks. We were impressed by the friendly staff and how willing they are to help in anyway. We have always found our rooms to be very clean when we check in. Un like a motel, I like that you have washers and dryers, and a full kitchens in most of the units with dishwashers, pots and pans, dishes, glasses, cups and silverware, coffee pots and microwaves. Plus in the 1 & 2 bedroom units you also have 2 baths which I love. Another great thing is the indoor heated pool and Jacuzzi which you can enjoy in the winter months also. They also have a large grassy front lawn with swings and chairs which you can watch the beautiful sunsets or lay in your loungechair and soak up the sun. They have got it all. If you are looking for a nice quite vacation, this is the place to come.

Perfect!
By john jarman, 9/6/09
Last minute reservation, 88$ a night on Labor Day Weekend!! Room was small but perfect for what we needed. Right on the beach. Washer and dryer (bring your own soaps) Fridge, stove, microwave etc! Bring your own everything as far as cooking goes! Pots and pans provided but youll need seasonings. Silverware provided for exact amount in the room. You need to do the dishes and laundry daily.Bring extra towels from home. Management was great and very helpful as far as where to go what to see and where to eat. Indoor pool was clean, hot tub was clean. Grill area with picnic tables was awesome! Great place to stay. A mature facility but very clean and friendly!

A Great time right on the Ocean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/17/09
We stayed in a two bedroom, 2 bath condominium and thoroughly enjoyed being right on the ocean front. We are planning to stay there again when we have more time to plan and can stay for an extended time. We had a wonderful family time on a 1 day vacation, how much more will we enjoy it as a week long time.

Wonderful Place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/13/09
I love The Whaler! I've been an owner for several years and can't wait to return. If you want fancy, pampered and snooty, go somewhere else. If you want to feel relaxed and "at home" you can't beat this place. The hotel isnt new, but it's clean and very well maintained. The view is the best - so close to the surf. It's a time share so there is no daily housekeeping, but everything you need is supplied in the rooms. This is the way the beach is supposed to be!

Been there, done that, can't wait to get back
By Jerry, 11/16/08
My wife and I became owners at the Whaler in February of 1995. We have never failed to have a great time when we go. We also go a couple of times a year and just rent. We have never had a problem that could not and did not get fixed. The staff, and we have met them all, have always been and are gracious, helpful and co-operative. (If any of you read this--"thanks" we appreciate you) We've taken our children and now our grandchildren and we always have a great time. After all, an indoor swimming pool at the beach with a jacuzzi, filshing within 45 feet of your back door, a dish washer, washing machine and dryer, all kitchen accessories and eating utensils provided. All local phone calls are free--even the dish washing soap is provided. Come on now, if a person is not happy with this kind of setup, I'm sure you have a very unhappy family. PS--If you want to get away for a few days, get on down to the Whaler Inn. You'll be glad you did. The Watsons in Apex, NC

Never Again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/31/08
My family decided on a last minute trip to the beach on a Friday afternoon. We arrived around midnight and to our surprise the Whaler Inn had a "vacancy" sign. The security guard met me at the office door and was very rude. She informed me that there was no one there to check us in. I was appalled at her rudeness considering the vacancy sign posted outside. I will never attempt to stay here again.
