Superb view, food and service

My wife and I stayed in Boothbay Harbor in early October 2004. We were extremely pleased with the Welch House Inn and its owners, Susan and Michael.
We enjoyed the Welch House for several reasons:
1) Location - It was on a hill, which gave us a perfect view of the harbor, but was close enough to walk to the businesses.
2) The food - We really enjoyed the breakfasts (especially the crab meat quiche). I would definitely include them in my top five list of Boothbay meals.
3) Service - Susan and Michael were always pleasant and attentive to our questions and needs.
4) The entire house is a maze of beautiful, quaint, clean & comfortable areas with a central location for eating breakfast or getting tea throughout the day.
We stayed in the "Helmsman" room, which was one of the least expensive rooms ($125 in the High Season).
The room was clean and suited our needs, but it was definitely smaller and less elaborate than some of the other rooms and the private bathroom is small with a standing-only shower. However, we will probably choose a similarly-sized room if we ever return to Boothbay Harbor, and of course we will stay in the Welch House Inn.
