Should have read the reviews...
By Maryann, 7/25/09
The Ledgelawn Inn has a lot of potential. It's a great old house that needs a lot of work. It's really a shame. Obviously, the owners are not around. The lawn is full of weeds and there are no flowers or any attempt made to make the place look inviting. When we arrived at 7pm, no one was at the desk, we had to make a phone call to check in. A young woman came who was less than friendly. The lobby was consistently deserted, if you wanted to have a drink at their "lounge" you wouldn't have been able to get any service. Breakfast was a joke- stale muffins and maybe some coffee if you get down there in time. Our room was on the first floor and we chose it because of its "private veranda". The paint was peeling off in layers on the porch and there were no chairs- only a table.?? The shades in the room would not open- it was either take them down or have no natural light. The paint on the ceiling was peeling along with select areas of wallpaper. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom small, but clean. Terrible service, appalling conditions- why would anyone go back?

Never stay here.....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/4/08
On 8/20/2008 we booked night in the Turret Suite it was $375.00 a night . It was birthday gift for my sister inlaw. The rug had stains. The ice bucket had bugs and dirt in it. The pool and hot tub were unusable( all green and dirty). The extra pillows in the closet had stains and no pillow cases. The bathroom door was almost off the hinges, The next morning were excited about our "free breakfast". It was awful the glasses were dirty. The coffee was lkie mud, food was cold.. When one customer at another table if her food could be warmed she was told no the microwave was already in use. Terrible experience. We were visting from Florida. I have stayed in $99.00 motels better than this.

NASTY-DIRTY LEDGELAWN INN- DO NOT STAY HERE!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/17/08
To say The Ledgelawn Inn is dirty is an understatement. It's nasty! The website photos of their property are the ultimate in deception. The ceiling is water-stained and in places falling down. Paint is peeling off the walls. Unfortunately we booked three nights at the Ledgelawn and could not get a refund. The day we checked in I notice a pack of used cigarettes on our patio table - it stayed there three days. There were dead flies on the breakfast room window sills all three days too!. The carpet in our room was so dirty I was afraid to walk barefoot . The place also smelled awful. We paid over $250. a night it was not worth $10. I've seen cleaner homeless shelters...no kidding. Every guest we spoke to was disgusted by this hotel. The owners of this property also own two other hotels in Bar Harbor. They obviously do not care if anyone ever comes back and they must be in charge of the local health department. Do not stay at this expensive dump!

Don't do it!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/21/06
Booked there based on a "AAA" rating. We paid $189. plus per night! The moment we parked our car I had a feeling it wasn't going to be good. The "Inn" is definitely not maintained either inside or out. Grounds were a mess with unmowed lawns and lots of withered or dead plants. The "pool" they advertise is at another property they own somewhere else in Bar Harbor. There appears to be one there but we were told it belongs to the motel next door. Unusable anyways. The hot tub on the property was closed! Also unusable. The room we stayed in was dark and drab. We did have a little porch off our room that ended up being our only saving grace. Our "bed" had a box built around it and had a feather bed on it which I believe was because the mattress was shot! The feather bed would not stay in place and we were adjusting it all night! Two horrible nights sleep! To totally top off this horrible experience, we had no water the 2nd morning when we got up at 6:00am to catch the ferry to Nova Scotia! Couldn't even brush our teeth or flush the toilet!!! No one on the "front" desk 24/7 in case of a problem! The numbers glued to the nightstand led us no where! No one answered any of them.

We liked it enough to recommend it.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/21/05
The location was very convenient, the parking was ample although many had to park in the grass and the Inn wasn't even full. We wanted to use their hot tub until we lifted the cover and saw the gray water. But the pool was beautifully clean. The rooms were kept pretty clean and the beds were comfortable, although the carpet could have been vacuumed a little more often. The breakfasts were good with selections of breads/bagels/english muffins/cereals and fruit. On 4 of our mornings there was also fresh scrambled eggs and bacon, and home made blueberry muffins.

I never did see the ghost!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/24/05
I was stunned by the beautifully carved mantel in our bedroom, room 121. We had 2 canopy queen beds and our own private brick patio. While we were there a tour guide from a cruise ship led people through the house and he told the story of a ghost, the lady in white. I'm disappointed that she never visited our room. Simple but good breakfast.

great for honeymoon
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/04
This is a beautiful place to start your marriage. Walking distance to downtown shopping and attractions. Nicely furnished rooms with character. Rates are reasonable.
