Great Place to stay
By airmaster2004, 06/08/08
My wife and I attended a wedding reception and stayed overnight. The staff was courteous and the food was great. The Bride and Groom seemed to have a great time without being stressed. You could feel the history in the room we stayed in yet it was cozy and comfortable. The Inn being in an old town had rooms that made you feel the culture of the town. There were plenty of places you could walk to from their location and the staff was knowledgeable about the area event and was helpful in direction. We plan on staying there again closer hopefully in the fall.

What a wedding weekend
By , 10/23/07
The Vandiver Inn was the location of my October 13, 2007 wedding weekend. When looking for a wedding venue, we wanted a place that would allow our family and friends the chance to be with us for more then just one day. We were able to enjoy a few days together without feeling rushed. The entire weekend was wonderful from start to finish. On the day of the wedding, the entire staff made sure that not only our guests, but the entire bridal party was taken care of. I cannot say enough about how helpful Chassi was the day of our event. She made sure that the event flowed smoothly without being rushed. The flow from ceremony to pictures, to cocktail hour to dinner and dancing was flawless. The staff did a wonderful job of blending in but made sure to be available if we had needs. I feel it is important to also mention that the food served was so good. Not only was breakfast each day great, but the food served at the wedding reception was VERY tasty. Many of our guests had clean plates! After the wedding was over we were surprised to find a full covered meal in our room just in case we were still hungry. I cannot say enough positive things about the Vandiver Inn and the staff. A wedding is an event that can become chaotic quickly. They did such a great job of making sure that never happened. If you are looking for something different, not a wedding factory, then this is the place.

Outstanding service in a charming New England setting
By guest, 09/07/07
Along our journey of 9 states down the east coast my boyfriend and I had booked a night at the Vandiver Inn. First of all this inn is absolutely stunning to someone who has a passion for historic architecture. Not to mention the service and ammenities are exceptional. After many mornings (in other hotels) of continental breakfast, we were amazed to see that we were offered a hot, made to order breakfast that was complimentary. We were also amazed at the size of our room including a private porch and very nice shower products. Everyone was extremely friendly and accomodating. We definitely recommend the Vandiver Inn to everyone who wants to experience southern hospitality in a beautiful New England setting.

A Home Away From Home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/20/06
Warm, welcoming, elegant, inviting... Welcome to The Vandiver Inn, a place to relax, unwind and enjoy the good life! Whether you're relaxing in your unique, antique filled private room or watching the world go by seated in one of the many rocking chairs on the enormous front porch, you will delight in every moment spent at The Vandiver. Personal service, delicious breakfasts, and a general feeling of "we're so glad you're here with us" make this the place our family always want to return to. (Five times this year already and counting!!)

Best of Times...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/03/06
This charming inn, with outgoing and marvelous owners, is a gem amongst the available Inns on the Chesapeake. We stayed there several times and continue to be amazed at how knowledgeable and enjoyable the owners, as well as the whole staff, are. In short, this place has great kharma and all of the folks whom we've reccomended stay there report back to me without fail that a wonderful time was had.

Love it frequently!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/23/06
We sincerely like the owners. They couldn't be nicer, more interested in their guests,or have a better sense of humor. The inn is charmingly decorated with antiques and is full of local history. We love the breakfasts and ability to take a short, leasurly walk to great restaurants on the water in the downtown area. If you are looking for a conveniently located, gracious, relaxing time away, this is the spot! We always look forward to our next visit!

Not impressed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/04/05
We were treated very rudely and would not recomend this Bed and Breakfast to any of our friends or relatives. We wanted to reserve rooms for an upcoming wedding and were put off after the manager stated that the rooms were avalible but only if we had the wedding or rehersal dinner there. It seemed he was forcing us into having our wedding there.

refreshing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/23/05
The place was beautiful and clean. The cook was nice but the owner was aloof. Breakfasts were great even though they offered no choices. They even had bath salts and lotions in the bathrooms which was sweet.
