Clean but needs improvement
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/17/07
We stayed in what is now the Madison Ave Beach Club for 4 nights. Did not start off well; we were unhappy with the location of the room (which was in a dark corner near the supply room, soda & ice machines, and were told there was no other room for 4 consecutive nights; the deadbolt on the door did not work; after maint.attempted to fix it, it was worse and they ended up giving us one of two master keys. I guess our biggest complaint was with the cleaning staff. Apparently they felt they could leave our room to the end of their list. On two days, the room never got cleaned. One day the cleaning person informed me that she had "washed a few of our dishes" (as if she was doing me a favor)....aside from an unappropriate comment, I would have thought it WAS HER job to wash or clean anything in the room that needed attending. On the positive side, it was a nice big room, a big in need of repairs, but had a washer/dryer and two flat screen TVs. The location is so-so. Don't know if we'd ever return to this particular place in the future (we've been to Cape May for many years & plan to return again, just not to this place)

Our home away from home!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/21/06
My husband and I have been going to the Blue Amber Motel for many years. We started going there when we were first engaged, then as our family grew (we have 4 children) our experience there only got better! The owner and all the maids are so helpful! One year we were there and it rained most of the time and several of the maids gave us so many different suggetions of activities to do to keep the kids busy besides going to the beach because of the rain, it was a lot of fun. The room was always cleaned and the maids waited until we left the room to do it they never bothered us at all. We have only missed going to Cape May two years within the 17 years that we have been taking vaction there. Every year we stayed at the Blue Amber, as our kids say it is our home away from home! Our kids just love it! My husband and I love it! It has become a family tradition for us to go there and stay every year! Thank you to all the staff and owners there for making our last 17 years of vacationing there so enjoyable!

Such a quaint little spot
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/06/06
I loved this place - it was my first motel and we stayed there for two days. It was really cute and I remember practically every detail about this place. You can just smell a the salty ocean when you go to the bathroom when the window is open, and at night you can hear the waves crashing just beyond the dunes...so many memories there. To sum it up, it's great.

Reliable Year After Year
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/11/06
I love this hotel. It's far from the beach but that's okay. It lends for a quiet good night sleep and makes it easier to hop over to the Wildwoods. The owners and their staff are always so nice. The amentities are just right. And, I've stayed at over-priced rooms, right near the boardwalk that had a less than desirable staff and unclean rooms. I've been vacationing in Cape May for 28 years, but haven't stayed anywhere else since finding the Blue Amber

The Blue Amber Is Family Friendly!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/12/06
There was not one thing that I did not like about the Blue Amber. It makes you feel like you are living in old Cape May with new technology. With its beautiful furnishings and not one un-sanitary trait it makes you feel right at home without the responsibility of making the beds every morning. The maids, the owners, and the employees are all fantastic! I wake up very early and I had known they said they have a continental breakfast. I thought that I was up so early the coffee would not be out yet so I got in my car and as I was pulling out of the driveway I noticed that the continetal breakfast was already out! Now thats service! Other hotels I have stayed at have maids were they are knocking on your door constantly asking when I am ready to have my room cleaned. Not at the Blue Amber! The maids wait till your door hanger says the room is ready to be cleaned. My family lives very far away from Cape May and we did not know how long it would take us to get there so we left at eight o'clock in the morning and arrived at the Blue Amber at 11:00 I belive that was two or three hours early then what we were suppose to arrive at. The Blue Amber staff said it was perfectly okay and that they understood and instead of telling us to leave for another three hours they told us that our room was not ready yet and that it should have been so they gave us a nicer room then what we were originally going to be in! My son is a sports maniac so he spent all of his time at the beach sufing and all of those water sports whi9le my daughter who is much younger is afraid of the Ocean so we convienytly took her to the park right next to the Blue Amber. My daughter got over her fear because of one of the staff members at the Blue Amber they told her that they have lived at the Cape May beach for all there life and every summer they would swim in the ocean she said that as long as she stayed close to shore and was always with an adult she would be okay she also told her that the beach is a very fun place to be because you can look for buried treasure under the sand! That was the sweetest thing I had ever seen anyone do. The next day when my daughter woke up the first thing she said was when are we going to the beach? The Blue Amber is an amazing place to bring a family and every aspect about it isa great. Thank you Blue Amber staff for giving us the best summer we ever had!
