a perfect stay - nice, clean place

Although low on the frills, this is a lovely little motel in South Lake Tahoe. Exceptionally clean, and extraordinary service (friendly and helpful!) from the mother and son who run it. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was clean, etc. Everything is a bit dated, but it doesn't smell, everything works (tv, lights, hot tub, etc.), and you can't beat the price. Perfect for those looking for a very basic bed to crash in at night after a long day hiking/skiing etc.

Very friendly owners

We love this place! Don't expect a fancy hotel, because it is basic...but the rooms are big (at least bigger than Motel 6), there is a big closet in most rooms and the beds are comfortable. We stayed here 5 weekends from Jan.-April 2011 during ski season, and went to Sierra at Tahoe (our family favorite) and Heavenly. Call the hotel directly to make your reservation to save a couple of dollars (530-541-0437).

Great value

We needed a place for several weeks so a kitchen was paramount, and second, we needed to remain in budget. We stayed several weeks and enjoyed it. The owners have renovated a lot, were very friendly and the rooms were CLEAN. The only place we found with a kitchen even though it was way off season. It isn't a five-star corporate place but we weren't lookinfgfor that OR the price that goes with it. We'll call them first for our next session.

Great little bang for your buck

The place is clean, all bedding washed after each visit including comforter. Pet friendly, kid friendly and good rates. Family owned and operated.

Save money staying here and use the money to play

This qute little place is a hidden gold mine. It clean, family owned and great prices. Now there is not a lot of extra's like the internet and such but you will always be treated like a king. Use the money you saved for the fun. They do have family rooms, rooms with over sized jacuzzi bath tubs..They allow dogs!!! Bedding is washed including comforters.

Great place for the price

It definitely isn't Harveys or the Mont Bleu, but for the money you can't beat it. It's about ten minutes from the Casinos and very close to shopping and restaurants. The family that owns this motel is the sweetest and most understanding family ever. My dog scratched all the paint off the back of the bathroom door, I offered to pay for it or fix it, but they said it was ok. I would recommend the Matterhorn to anyone looking to stay in Tahoe on a tight budget.

Perfect No Frills Place

Wasn't sure what to except with these smaller out of the way places, however this no frills small motel was perfect for the two of us to get away for a weekend. The owners were super friendly, remembered me by name from when I called to make the reservation and always had a smile. Check this place out if all you need is a place to lay your head and a shower. BTY, the water pressure is great and the water stays hot.

Confortable, Clean, Friendly

I've stayed her twice. The first time my car broke down. The mechanic sent me to the Matterhorn. The Matterhorn got a room ready for me within a few hours. The next time I stayed here, the family that runs the Matterhorn remembered me. They were friendly. The rooms, including the bathroom are clean. The beds are comfortable. I plan to go back this season. No frills.
