Love the Suites!
By Shannon, 2/26/10
There are 2 Suites at the end. They have private balconies with a hot tub. we stayed there our wedding night and night before with girlfriends. Loved it! Beautiful scenery and very romantic. Expensive but awesome. The regular rooms much cheaper but much older (clean though). Love the wine and cheese hour. Prices are much better in the off season.

Great Place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/5/09
This was an amazing spot! My boyfriend and I stayed for our anniversary and it was amazing. Stay in a suite room upstairs with the balcony. We went in November, so the rates were really affordable. There was a two person jacuzzi, fire place, private balcony, and flat screen tv- plus the view! The room was just remodeled and felt very modern- alarm clock even had an ipod docking station. If you are looking for a beautiful place and great location choose this place. It is a 3 minute walk to the boardwalk, pier, and local bars. We are totally going back.

Nice but overpriced-Cottage Suite
By E, 9/22/09
Very nice room, enjoyed the private deck with jacuzzi over looking the beach, king size bed, couch pulled out to bed so our son can sleep on, had a flat screen w/dvd player. Nice size bathroom and shower. The staff could have been a lot more friendly. I mean, they weren't mean but weren't as friendly as I would expect paying almost $300 for ONE NIGHT and thats the fall price! They didnt ask how are stay was or anything. Just "thanks have a nice day." For the money we spent, I'd like to have had breakfast(which was muffins, bagels, fruit, toast, all fresh so thats was good) at least delivered to our room! But, thats just me. I hate the ck out at 11:00am too. I know thats everywhere mostly but they should make the stay worth your money if ck in isnt till 3pm. I heard a lot of walk-by traffic all night. The walk to the beach isnt bad, sign says half a mile. All in all we had a nice time, dont think I'd spend that much again on a hotel room though.

Great Location - Major Remodeling going on
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/18/09
Good: Location great - terrific view of the ocean. Within walking distance of the wharf and board walk. Friendly staff, good continental breakfast. Bathrooms are newly remodeled. Bad: Typical uncomfortable, old motel beds, Rooms are small - king size bed takes up most of the room. Inn is undergoing major remodeling - about half the rooms are unavailable and the sounds of the waves are in concert with the sounds of hammers and construction. Parking is very limited even more limited now that construction vechiles take up most of the parking. My recommendation is wait until the remodeling is completed. It should be nice then.

Liked it so much we spent another day
By EMM, 3/2/09
Nice location can walk to the pier and beach. Head the other way down west cliff and there is a great surf spot. Nice deck overlooking the pier. Quiet at night ( this was the off season). We caught a contrustion rate of $79 the first night and then stayed a second night and paid the normal rate for a friday of $159. We used it as home base to check out Ano Nuevo and Butano parks. They are obviously putting money into the place and expanding. Some of the construction was a little wierd like clashing shower doors and bathroom doors and no light switch in the bathroom, but all minor things. If you are looking for big fancy luxurious rooms this is not the place, but if you want a tidy hotel in a good central location with a laid back atmosphere this place is great.

The Complete Package!!
By Judy, 1/22/09
We just enjoyed the wonderful executive suite cottage in mid-January (temps in the mid-70's!) for my Mother's 90th birthday. The views, the accommodations including the private patio w/hot tub & breakfast delivered each morning -- we all felt like royalty!! We'll be back soon!

not safe!
I have to say, I was excited of this beautiful place. It was clean, on the beach, hot tub on the deck, just awesome! However, our stay there turned into a horrible experience. We arrived around 6:15pm, dropped off our baggage and went off to dinner and a show. We returned to the ugly reality that somebody had broken into our suite and taken all our stuff. The clerk was less than helpful, she did not do any good by agreeing that breaks-ins and robberies had been happening every week. "Oh yeah, a guy got his truck stolen the other day" Yikes! And was reluctant to give us a refund. The Santa Cruz police was tide up at an event and didn't show up for two hours. All we got was the Boardwalk security guard who looked like a teenage boy. Whoever broke in, jumped the fence into the deck of our suite and came it through the sliding doors. My husband who was born and raised in Santa Cruz, Per his assessment of the situation, speculates that it was some street punks, not really robbers. They didn't vandalize stuff, they didn't take the flat screen, just our bags, and they had the audacity to get jump in the hot tub and drink our wine. I found my shoes and his some of the contents of his bag littered in the bushes down West Cliff drive. All the parties involved were not very nice and my whole experience in Santa Cruz was tainted by this sense of violation and now knowing that it happens frequently is just a bummer. All I can say is that Santa Cruz is still a beautiful place, and this stuff happens more often that not.

Not the rate shown
By Dennis, 1/10/08
When I called about renting a room for 1/11-13/08 I was told the rate was $159.00 not the rate Yahoo was showing of $109.00. They said Yahoo had not gotten their NEW rate. Interesting! 46% increase, sure wish I could adjust my rates by that much.

Best Hotel on the California Coast for the money!!
By Tytiger, 11/26/07
Wow, once again the Sea and Sand Inn served up the greatest view, service, and ambiance on the California Coast! You could pay 300 to 500 for a hotel on the water in california and you would not have a better view! I should give this Inn a horrible rating so I would have the place to myself but I could not live with myself, Thanks again for the best holiday ever!
