Good Basecamp in Pioneer
The Pioneer Resorts Lodge was a good place to stay for a night or two while visiting the lower highway 88 area. The service was very good, both when making a reservation over the phone and during our stay. The room was OK, with the furnishings from the early 80s or so, but generally clean. There were some worn areas on the couch, and the middle blanket on the bed also was worn, complete with a burn hole. But, the place was comfortable, didn't have any funny smell, and I actually slept quite well that night.
The main downside was the price. I wouldn't really call the establishment a resort, or a lodge, but rather an independent motel. It could have been priced about 10% less to be a better value.
I'd stay there again if in the area.
