Cedar Lodge, South Lake Tahoe

Got to the hotel about 930 at night with myself and 3 kids. They were out of double bed rooms so they gave us two rooms side by side at a great rate. The rooms are older but seem to be clean. The hotel is near all activites...all within a block. May be something in the room though my alergies started to go nuts. The place would be awesome with just a little TLC and some refurbishing.

The room had mold in the bathroom and behind the head board of the bed. I was sick for 2 weeks after I left. DO NOT STAY AT THE CEDAR LODGE. Apparently the health dept is shutting them down due to the mold issues.

I went to post this review when I read the others before mine, the dates show at least 2yrs ago. The place was great. The new owners were very friendly and made it very clean and homey. I was there this last xmas in 2006 and the festive look was perfect, even tinsle around the doorknobs. I'm glad I had the chance to stay there before reading those reviews, but trust me, it will now be my Tahoe hotel whenever I'm up there. Tip, ski tickets can be cheaper at Chevron or even Raleys.

This is a good place if you want to be close to Heavenly and are only looking for a place to sleep. It is pretty worn around the edges but it was clean and neat. We did have a maintenance item when we checked in but their maintenance guy showed up in 20 minutes to fix it. I'd have no problem staying there again.

They are rude, and charged us for an extra night...for not cheking out by 12. We were gone at 9:30, we had to be somewhere at 10. But since we did not walk by the desk and tell them that (leaving the keys is not efficient she told me). The room was already signed and paid for when we check in. We only stayed there because we didn't want to spend too much....and I ended up spending 160 for 1 night.....now you couldnt PAY me to stay there....it was so dirty!!!

I made a reservation for my friends wedding 3 days before i was suppose to go to tahoe with the cedar lodge, they told me on the phone if i needed to cancel call within the next 48 hrs to cancel my reservation i call the next day to cancel because a storm was coming in and the roads were closed and we were not going to be able to make it up there the man on that phone rudely told me that i was going to be charged and i asked why and he told me becasue and argued with me, my husband called back and talk to the man and they worked it out and we were not going to be charged but three days later 100 dollors was missing from our account and indeed they charged us they gave me the run around made me fax them my explanation for why i wanted a rerfund they called me back and told me i was out of luck so i told her i was going to file a disput claming fruad and she told me go ahead they get fraud clamed against them all the time because of "missunderstanding". i will never stay at that hotel again is there rooms so gross no one stays there so they have to charge people that dont stay, all i can say is go to The Blue Jay Lodge on cedar ave same location great rooms and friendly people they are great.and cheaper.

I can't tell you how filthy this place is. I booked for 2 nights,my daughter was getting married, when we arrived I went to check in and did the paperwork. My mistake, I should have gone and looked before paying. I went to the room and found the carpet was a complete filthy mess, stains all over the floor, stains on the bed. They did'nt have a smoke detector in our room, The guardrail up stairs was loose and the carpet on the stairs was just hanging off, someone could have fallen and been badly hurt. This place is a disaster waiting to happen.

My family booked the Cedar Lodge using Expedia. The credit card was charged in full and the reservation guaranteed. When we arrived, the front desk had no record of our booking and no rooms available. We were turned away and had to find other lodgings. The people in front of us in line were from France. They too had booked (using Utopia) and the Cedar Lodge had no record of their booking. They too had to try to find somewhere else. Eventually after way too much time on the phone, we received a full refund. Beware, do not book the Cedar Lodge online!!
