Poor business now
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/11/08
I stayed there when it was a Holiday Inn, Best service and accommodations then. Stayed again this April and management was unaccommodating for my reasonable easy request. The front desk was instructed to lie to guests. The restaurant was inexpensive food but expected poor service. The rooms were not clean and typical of the inexperienced management. I have managed and owned muliple lodges and hotels. This business will soon face closing going in the new direction they are moving. Being part of the Best Western affiliation is a disgusting surprise. I would not recommend this establishment to anybody.

Moldy shower.
By Christine, 02/13/08
One nice girl at the front desk, one very unaccommodating. The bartenders only waited on people they knew or young women. I could not get a HOT cup of coffee the whole time I was there. The shower was so molded that my daughter with asthma was sick the whole time. I should have complained when we left but there was supposedly no manager on duty. The restaurant food was great but the prices rediculous. Thank goodness for the little store right next door!!! (And also thanks to Dennys.)You should have some kind of affordable food specials and make your money there rather than having people go elsewhere to eat. I think the kids cereal was around six dollars a bowl and they were still starving....

Lovely hotel in the heart of Big Bear
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/01/07
Beautiful upscale hotel with very resonable rates. Lovely decor. Beautiful grounds, nice staff, excellent restaurant in the lobby area. Second time there and hope to stay again in winter as it is close to the ski areas. Has all the amenities you'd want. The room was very clean and comfortable. I have nothing but good to say about the experience and would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice place to stay in Big Bear.

Great Package deal
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/31/06
we checked in on thursday evening. front desk clerks were pleasantly accommodating. shortly upon check in, we dined at the restaurant at the hotel. nicely decorated and reasonably priced for the stuff that they serve. we took an advantage of their weekday ski package that includes a room and a pair of lift tickets that can be used at either snow summit or bear mountain. it was only $169 for the whole package. they said package is only available on monday thru thursday, but i can use the lift tickets on friday, so i went ahead and jump on the deal.

Fair price for average hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/19/05
Nice looking hotel with lovely rooms but not very well maintained. It is starting to look a little run down. The air-conditioning doesn't work at night.I had to get up during the night to open the sliding door to cool it off but didn't want to leave it open since there wasn't a screen on the door. We opened the sliding glass door the second night so we could use our fireplace but couldn't get the fireplace to work.We called and they sent someone up but he just banged on the fireplace and got it to come on but told us it didn't work very well.We asked how to get it back off and he just told us to bang on it a few times. That did not work so we had to sleep with the sliding glass door open and the fireplace on. We also couldn't get the wireless internet to work. The staff was not apologetic for these inconveniences. This hotel did have a nice lounge with live entertainment saturday night. I would say that the rate is fair for what you get. When I booked this hotel I thought I was getting a great deal because I remembered what this hotel used to be. It is no longer that hotel so I would just say it is a fair price for an average hotel.

Stay here on your first visit!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/04
Loved the facade. Nice European look. Interior is well heated for a cold winter day. Located close to skiing and a good family snow playground. Dinner in the bistro was excellent. Try the sage-infused pork tenderloin. Breakfast was fully cooked and priced competitively. We thought $179 per night was a bit high for a Best Western. Checkout was time consuming due to a problem with the hotel's phone modem. The room overlooked the pool and had a great view of the woods. This place will please everyone but the really picky in winter. Summer may be different as there is only heat control in the room. The air is central to the whole building. We will stay there again on our next winter vacation.
