Lovely stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/8/10
We had a terrific stay. Very cordial hospitality, food was wonderful and very creative. Everything was very clean and enjoyed sitting in the porch swing in the afternoon and in the evening evening had peach iced tea with cookies. Hosts recommended a couple of real local places for dinner and we were not disappointed. We had a small room. If you are tall would not be suitable because of the angles of the roof. I am short so that was fine. Going down to breakfast early was a good move as it allowed us to get acquainted with some of the other guests and made breakfast even more fun. Only negatives are if you are sensitive to noise, the bell tower a block away chimed the hours, and rather loudly. And the spa was not working so check if that is important to you. Otherwise, the Old Consulate Inn lived up to its reputation.

What a Treat!
By Teresa D, 6/2/05
Although the room (Parkside Room) was much smaller than the online picture indicated, the bed was VERY comfortable and everything was very clean. The key to this place is the hospitality. The host was over the top with the way he anticipated our every need. We told him that we were going whale watching the next morning before the scheduled breakfast time, so he packed a breakfast "to go" that was great. He even went to the store and bought ginger ale for us in case we got seasick. The second morning, the breakfast was exquisite! There was a "family" feeling to the entire experience and I would definitely choose this place again.
