Maids have not cleaned in 11 weeks!
Have been here since 11-19-06. Mid 50's, quiet, polite, no drama. I worked in hsekping, try to lighten their load. Strip bed, sheets, linen. garbage near door. I vacuum: 2 computers, guitar, amp, etc. and lots of wires. All they have to do is clean bthrm, sink and sweep bath floor. When we get clean sheets - no one offered to help make the bed. Put a Do Not Disturb sign on the door and forgot about it. Received 3 irate calls from a very rude woman at the desk.Never asked why the sign had been on the door for several days-just yelled SHE needed access to our room every other day. I said I had vacuumed and made bed but the bthrm needed to be cleaned.
Planned a romantic weekend, hung the sign, the guy from the desk bangs on door and asks why we have the DND sign on door! He gawked in, said we didn't have sheets on the bed. I was wrapped in 1 and the other was in plain site. A few minutes later irate woman from desk calls griping about the DND sign and maids. Told her it was done the day before - by ME. Each time I have let maids in to clean, they do nothing. Scheduled maid service, they didn't show up. Left the door open next day and they gathered linens, garbage and left.
I'm self-employed work at my computer and the wireless internet connection is the best, most reliable ever-which is one reason we stay.
We moved to a different room about 3 weeks ago and after a week, let a maid in. Told her it needed a thorough cleaning. She gathered our dirty linens and left. The sign remains on the door and we launder sheets and towels ourselves. This am, I awoke to a young man standing in doorway! He said "Housekeeping" I said "Not today, thank you." The DND sign was on door.
I tracked a pkg after ordering and was angry the delivery driver was told our room was vacant and there was no one here by that name. I spoke with the man at the desk he said there wasn't a room number on pkg. I said the box was here and did have our room number on it. Wasn't rude but he was defensive. He said driver left pkg in truck. Started to point out we were the only ones here, but he said something in a foreign language and hung up.
One maid was very upset by the condition of our room. It was her first day, no one had shown up, it was noon. She insisted on cleaning but I had her clean tub for now and rest Mon. She cleaned tub and toilet. Told me they were having problems with staff and it would be straightened out soon. I haven't seen her since. This was the only time in 5 wks, the tub and toilet was cleaned by staff.
I heard her tell the guy from desk about all the problems-he was standing outside our door. Nothing has changed-he didn't report it. He follows maids, flirting and joking. Stands by the cart, lights 2 cigs. As they walk in and out of rooms, they take drags off the cig's he holds for them. All 3 are blowing smoke every where, includiing onto the clean linen and towels. The wind blows it into the room. We smoke-but not while working. The rooms upstairs are non-smoking. Non-smokers are not going to appreciate towels and linen smelling like smoke!
Lots of noise, maids carts moving up and down walkway at 3 am. When asked next a.m. after the 1st time, they knew nothing about it. Looked like 8 yr olds in trouble-guilt,couldn't look me straight in the eyes, anxious to get out of here.
If we were paying for this, we would have reported them, provided photos of the conditions and checked out. We are staying out of curiosity if they'll ever ask about not letting maids in. I expected 2 b asked to leave-but evidently our opinion of them isn't as important as the $$$ they get every 3 days. I am reporting this to owner.
