ANOTHER GREAT STAY!!!

Just took our third trip to Bellingham, and once again stayed at the Best Western Heritage Inn. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and everything we needed was there. A little problem trying to hook up to the free internet, but easily fixed. The continental breakfast has everything you can think of and delicious too! It's our home away from home from Vancouver Island. Shopping is close by along with some excellent restaurants. We will always go back there...try to book it online though, it is cheaper and check all the sites to get the best price available. We paid $100 but could have booked it before our trip for $86/night. Just a reminder that it is just this side of the highway, so depending on which side you are, could be a bit noisy for sleeping, although we didn't hear anything. You can walk to the Bellis Fair Mall...a 5 minute walk!!!

Better than our Vegas hotel!

The location is great for shopping and dining. We were there during the late December storms and just had to walk across the street to eat and shop! Everybody there was so friendly and helpful. We loved our room! The king size bed was so comfy and the decor was so enchanting! I felt like I was at home....looking out the window onto the stream was so nice...and watching the snow come down was as nice. We didn't feel like we were staying in a motel. We want to go back in the spring when the weather is better and shop again at the Bellis Fair Mall next door and stay at the same place in the same room! I highly recommend this place....

Horrible Location

This hotel was packed in the back of the parking lot by fast food, the busy road, and gas stations. Hotel is also getting old.

Oooold and Smelly

We reserved our room several months in advance as we live in Alaska... We ended up with a canope bed in a tiny, old room in what felt like a basement that smelled of mildew. Awoke to a stagnant smell so opened the window and slug decided to join us! The bathroom was so small one could hardly turn around. The bathroom door had to be closed to get to the shower...Not great! We have stayed with Best Western for years but may just change....The cost has gotten out of hand! Doubt we'll ever stay again..

GREAT PLACE!

My daughter and I went down for a shopping weekend. I booked on-line and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is just down the street from Bellis Fair. The room was spacious and clean; the front desk clerks very helpful and the breakfast was good. They could use a bigger breakfast room but we were allowed to take our food back to our room so no biggie. The entire hotel is non-smoking so not problem with that and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance so location was great. I have recommended this hotel to my family and co-workers and I would definitely stay here again.

Inconvenient

We decided on this particular hotel for the canopy beds. AFTER arriving to our room, we realized we were placed in a suite instead. After calling the desk, we were told the canopy-bed rooms were "under maintenance". After some complaining they eventually switched us to a canopy room after all. Both rooms were nice and clean and breakfast was nice. However, my husband left his cell phone charger in the room. When we called to retrieve it, they said to stop by that evening. We did but there was no manager to unlock the "lost box", so they asked us to come back the next morning. We did, and the mangager was off. A major inconvenience for the out of towner. We STILL haven't been able to get the charger returned to us. A lousy staff didn't seem to know what was going on half the time. They couldn't even suggest a decent restaruant of give accurate directions in the area. Thank goodness another traveler was there to help us with that. We stayed in three hotels that weekend and that one was the worst by far.

Not good

Smokey room (we don't smoke). Front desk help the day after we arrived (regarding the smell of smoke) was poor. Only 1 washer/drier for 3 buildings...definitely not enough nor was it convenient. Noise out in the hall, but guests on their cell phone and noise by the cleaning staff right outside the door(despite a Do Not Disturb sign on the door) was excessive. Also, there apparently was some rennovation work going on which we were not advised of. Finally, had to lug suitcases up an outside stairway to get to our room (3rd floor)...not too customer friendly!

Don't even think about it

Booked this hotel to use as a home base during a baseball tournament. This hotel seems as though it has not been updated in YEARS! It is old, outdated, and with walls paper thin. The fans in the bathrooms going on either side of my room gave me a nice stereo feeling - if that's what you want of fans. Avoid at all costs!

It is beginning to feel like home !

We have been staying here for quite a number of years & we love it! The staff are always so nice & we love the little treats in the front Lobby! The location is a big plus, so close to the shops. Since you opened the new breakfast area it has made a big difference & the lady who runs it is a gem ! Anne & Alasatir Berry.

Going back to the Holiday Inn

I might have considered switching from being a Holiday Inn supporter to the Best Western, but they charge $1.00 a minute for long distance and don't disclose this to the traveller. I've stayed at the Holiday Inn for over 25 years now and have never had them "stick it to me" on the long distance rates. The Holiday Inn might charge double the normal rate, which means $0.20 per minute. But the Best Western charges $1.00 per minute. So when you get your bill, you might get a huge surprise and find your bill is double what you expect. Upon discussing this with the staff and customer service, you're basically told they don't have to disclose this to the customer, it's up to the customer to know ahead of time that "Best Western sticks it to their customers on the long distance" and that nobody has to do anything about this. The basic message was "it doesn't effect that many people (maybe 10%) and therefore we don't feel we need to do anything about it." THIS IS A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BEST WESTERN AND HOLIDAY INN. THIS WOULD NEVER HAPPEN AT A HOLIDAY INN. I WILL NEVER STAY AT A BEST WESTERN AGAIN.
