Charged my card after I cancelled reservation
By ,
I never stepped foot in this place, but they charged my debit card even though I cancelled with the manager of the place the day after I made the reservation, two weeks before traveling to Brookings. This pisses me off! Then when I called to complain, they said they would have to find the manager to find the paperwork to reverse the charge. And they would call me later. I hate this sort of thievery and they will reimburse me.

Stay Away!!!
By ,
The motel was very poor. We asked for a quite room and got stuck next to crying babies all night. If that did take the cake the beds are the worst I have ever slept on. You could hear the springs (steel on steel) if you rolled over. I was thinking tetness shot...Never again with the staff being unwilling to help with anything except sorry. Try the Best Western at the harbor. Good Luck!!!

THANK YOU!!
By ,
My friend and I are going to be taking a girls vacation and are looking for a place to stay in Brookings. Thank you to everyone who posted all the negative reviews about this place. I rely on customer reviews quite a bit, because we are not there, cannot see what the place looks like except what is posted on the internet. We will cross this place off our list. Thank You

URINE STENCH AND STICKY CARPET!!!!!!
By ,
We stayed one night in this place. The carpet was sticky and stunk of urine. I woke with a sore throat and headache. There aren't words for how I really feel.

WARNING WARNING WARNING
By ,
Room - tiny. Be advised to bring your own soap since they give you 1 tiny ration of soap. Cost - Way expensive for what you get. Coastal motels like this take advantage of the summer and location to the beach and we had no choice at the time - last min. reservation. Problem: We had reservations Thursday and Friday night. Their policy is checkout is 11am. I phoned Thursday and talked to "Karena" (sp?) and was told that extending it to 12 noon would be ok but couldn't do it more than that. I say "Thank you very much" as we had a race on Sat. am on the beach. We paid for 2 nights even though our actual check in was Friday early afternoon. With my wife standing right next to me I mentioned to the girl behind the counter, "Sarah", that I had talked to someone the previous day about a checkout no later than noon on Sat. She said "oh that's fine then". At 11am on Sat. we had housekeeping banging on the rear door demanding checkout was 11. On the front door we had "Karena" banging and demanding we check out NOW! I just got out of the shower, dressed, and went to the front office and "Karena" pretended to know nothing. She eventually admitted we talked on Thursday and she said there was a note in their computer to that I had made the request - but she really didn't approve it! Lie # 2. Meanwhile, Sarah, the girl that actually checked us in just stood their neither confirming or denying anything. If you make a verbal change to anything make sure you get it in writing - these people are NOT to be trusted! Also, when you check out a free DVD they make you sign a paper saying you must pay for the disk if they don't receive it back. After all the above and upon handing in my keys I said to "Karena" that I wanted to see that page to verify it was returned. She said "Oh we checked it off" and I said noway, I didn't trust her and her word was meaningless and I wanted to see the page. There was a thin pencil line through the DVD number - like one that could be easily erased. I wrote on it in pen RETURNED. We will never return to this place.

False advertising and information
By ,
I made reservations by phone after the owner told me our room would be right on the ocean. I arrived and found the motel is not on the ocean, has no ocean access and the "ocean view" the website refers to is a tiny patch of blue I can see half a mile away under the trees if I crouch down. Bring your earplugs - its right on Hwy 101. Not worth the $110 they charged my card and refused let me look elsewhere.

NEVER AGAIN!
By ,
My husbands family lives in the area and we went for a visit. Had been staying up the road at the very nice WhalesHead Resort but it was too far away. We stayed our last night at the Spindrift. The next morning my husband had to go into Crescent City to pick something up at a family members house before we checked out. He had stopped by the office on the way out and asked for an hour later check out. Instead of 11am if we could have 12. They said no. He was trying to hurry and didn't make it back in time and they came down at 1130 and told me I had to get out of the room. My 9 month old daughter was taking a nap at the time and was startled awake. So there I stood outside the room near the parking lot, with all my luggage and my daughter on my hip waiting for my husband to get back so we could load up and leave. My point was, at least we asked. They couldn't just give us 1 more hour? There were other guests that were getting booted as well but they didn't even ask at the desk. Also they didn't even have a full motel. The Best Western up the road was full. And the rooms were not that clean, carpets pretty stained. I could feel the bed springs when I went to bed that night too. I just can't believe the managers can't make a decision on their own for different situations. The manager came back to me when I was standing outside and said the boss showed up and he said I could stay in the room because I had a little one. I thought it was too late by then. And that shouldn't make any difference whether I had a baby with us or not. By the time I left I had the managers and house cleaning staff fighting with each other. The manager, she was trying to blame it on the maids that they needed me out to clean the room. The maids couldn't believe she told me to get out of the room like that. If a paying customer comes up and makes a small request, just honor it. We might have been back. Like I said, we have family that lives in the Brookings/Crescent City area. I know this review was long and Im happy you took the time to read it. We will never stay there again and I hope you don't either.
