NEVER AGAIN!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/15/07
My husbands family lives in the area and we went for a visit. Had been staying up the road at the very nice WhalesHead Resort but it was too far away. We stayed our last night at the Spindrift. The next morning my husband had to go into Crescent City to pick something up at a family members house before we checked out. He had stopped by the office on the way out and asked for an hour later check out. Instead of 11am if we could have 12. They said no.
He was trying to hurry and didn't make it back in time and they came down at 1130 and told me I had to get out of the room. My 9 month old daughter was taking a nap at the time and was startled awake. So there I stood outside the room near the parking lot, with all my luggage and my daughter on my hip waiting for my husband to get back so we could load up and leave.
My point was, at least we asked. They couldn't just give us 1 more hour? There were other guests that were getting booted as well but they didn't even ask at the desk.
Also they didn't even have a full motel. The Best Western up the road was full.
And the rooms were not that clean, carpets pretty stained. I could feel the bed springs when I went to bed that night too.
I just can't believe the managers can't make a decision on their own for different situations. The manager came back to me when I was standing outside and said the boss showed up and he said I could stay in the room because I had a little one. I thought it was too late by then. And that shouldn't make any difference whether I had a baby with us or not.
By the time I left I had the managers and house cleaning staff fighting with each other. The manager, she was trying to blame it on the maids that they needed me out to clean the room. The maids couldn't believe she told me to get out of the room like that.
If a paying customer comes up and makes a small request, just honor it. We might have been back. Like I said, we have family that lives in the Brookings/Crescent City area.
I know this review was long and Im happy you took the time to read it. We will never stay there again and I hope you don't either.
