Hidden gem with great location
By Donald, 6/23/11
I Stayed at the Howard Johnson Express Inn Cedar Point as one of my friend recommend this hotel. The location of this hotel is great as it is right across from the Cedar Point Amusement Park Entrance! The hotel is wonderful. The lobby was well maintained and decorated and has all the amenities you need. The room was a nice size with wireless internet which was very speedy. Room service was prompt and quick. Although I didn't get to take advantage of outdoor pool but found that Pool area was clean and tidy. The manager was over and above helpful. Breakfast was delicious and had variety of dishes like Cereal, Fruit, Orange Juice, Apple Juice, Milk and many more. Overall I was very pleased with the hotel.

In the middle of the night 2:15 to be exactly, my 16 year old woke me u and said that she saw a tick and felt it on her, of course i jumped out of bed, went to find the bug and found bed bugs all in our beds!!!! They did not even try to find us another room, thank god my husband brought our lap tap and found another hotel with a room. Not a way to start our 4th of July.

NEVER AGAIN
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/7/10
Well we can't say we liked ANYTHING about this place. We arrived at 3am friday, the room smelled HORRIBLE! While brushing my teeth, I find cigarettes stuffed in the sink. We go to lay in bed and find a lighter underneath the sheets. Therefore you know it was not cleaned the day before. Then we wake up in the middle of the night to find bugs to be more specific centipedes all over the wall. When we went to complain the next day the people working never said one sorry. I would not recommend this to motel to anyone. Yes it is cheap but it is def not worth it!!

AWFUL
By poodle, 7/13/09
Would never stay there again, parking lot and steps were filthy, swimming pool big enough for two people. Room stunk, toilet was not sealed to the floor, bug in ice tray, sheets wouldn't stay on the bed. Our friends room had no air conditioning and toilet backed up. Cob webs on railings. Didn't want to stay hre but they said we would be charged anyhow. I was overcharged eighty dollars and had to place another call to them. No guest service what so ever. Rude and very ignorant service.

I do come here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/11/09
This place was not very clean. They change their rates to depend on how many rooms are full. They would not refund us for one night of staying since it was raining and we wouldn't go to Cedar Point. They also would not print us off one coupon to save us $13 / person on the African Safari drive. They were very unfriendly and not helpful.

Fraudulent charges
By Anthony, 7/12/08
I cancelled my room 3 days in advance (well in advance of the required cancellation timeframes) and received a confirmation number - the same as my original reservation number. The hotel billed my card anyway. They listed me as a "no show" and, being that a month had gone by and I tossed the information related to my stay, would not offer a refund or make any other arrangements. In addition, the arrogance of the phone staff/management ensures that I'll choose another hotel when staying in Sandusky.

Will definitely be staying there again
By DennisS, 10/21/07
We were going on an overnight stay for Cedar Points Halloweekends, made no reservations and checked several hotels for availability and prices. For the price and location you couldn't beat it! The desk person was very friendly and our room spotless! As a frequent traveler, I really appreciate the convenience of an ironing board, iron, coffee maker, and hair dryer, right in the room along with shampoos and conditioners!!! A lot of hotels you need to call and request these things! Bed was super comfortable and tons of TV channels available overall stay was great!!! Won't be shopping around next trip, I'll go right there!

Location: Good Room Quality: Not what I expected (but under NEW MANAGEMENT)
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/6/07
Some of the things I liked was that it was really close to Cedar Point (I mean literally it was right across the street). And the front desk people were very nice Just to let you know: THE ROOMS ARE MUCH SMALLER THAN THE PICTURE ON THE INTERNET! The first room we were in (room 123) was really hot, the bed was too close to the airconditioner (which was probably why we were not getting any cool air), and there were some flies in our room (probably when the door was opened too much). So then we switched to room 135 which was much better and cooler than the first room and had an adjoining room (which was good because we were adjoined with our relatives who were traveling with us. Also our relative's room, which was room 120, did not have a hairdryer in their bathroom, so I would pack one just incase if you get a room with no hairdryer). It also had a newer t.v. We did not use the pool, but the pool was much smaller than the picture on the Internet and it was a little dirty. Speaking of Internet, if you want to use the high-speed Internet, you would have to go to the lobby, they are not available in rooms (which they should have deleted on the website under amenities free high speed internet and only leave high speed internet in lobby) The breakfast could have been a little better (there were only muffins, bread to toast, cereal, and juice. No fruit). But I guess it was o.k. for the theme park rides (you would not want to eat too much if you were going on rides like Millenium Force or Top Thrill Dragster). So would I recommend this hotel? Probably for the location and value, but if you were looking for a little more room quality, you should stay somewhere else.

This was a horrible hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/19/06
The hotel was near Cedar Point, which was excellent. The rooms we received were filthy. The bathroom was dirty, the tub and shower was filthy, there was not any toilet paper or cleanex in the bathroom. I thought the rooms were disgusting. The toilet paper holders were rusty and the rooms did not smell fresh. The owners of this hotel needs to complete a lot of upgrading. I felt that they should have given our party 50% off of the total room stay.
