Stolen Property - Terrible Customer Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/3/11
Our room contained a broken light that hummed when turned on. As a result, we were unable to use that light without absolute annoyance, so we were stuck with partial dimness in one area of the room. I placed my dog bed by the end of my bed and realized the next day that it was soaked and freezing cold which we later realized was due to the leaking air conditioning unit. In order to make the leak stop, we needed to make the room uncomfortably warm. On nights that three of us just wanted to stay in we were stuck with little to no options. When my boyfriend went to ask the front desk man, Mike, if they had room service or movie options he cut him off and said "Nope. It's the Ramada, man". Our entire hall reeked of marijuana and when positioned directly under the vent in the bathroom, you could get a direct whiff of the odor as well. Not entirely "family friendly". In addition to the indescribable customer service described below, the same front desk attendant, Mike, disrespectfully spoke of other guests in the hotel to me and other guests by calling them “old people” and speaking of them “bitching”. It was an extremely unprofessional manner. However, my BIGGEST complaint was my stolen item. We only had our room cleaned one time on our three night stay. I had left my $100 hair straightener out on the bathroom counter as we left to take the animals to the park. We asked the maid on duty to clean our room while we were gone. When we returned, our room was clean. (She had remade our beds but failed to replace our beds with comforters. When we tried to call the front desk to ask about the comforters we realized our phone was not actually connected.) The maid had reorganized our bathroom counter and cleaned it. My straightener was no longer there. With all of the commotion with the visit and figuring she just put it away somewhere else in the room, we didn't give it much thought. When we returned home, we searched through all of our luggage and realized that the hair straightener was not there. I knew that it was not left in the room because we had thoroughly searched the room up and down. We called the Ramada, and they said they would check with the maid on duty and check the lost and found. When they called back, they told us there was no luck. I gave it some time in order to give them the benefit of the doubt and hope that the straightener would just show up. However, after a week of no news and no appearance of the missing item, I called the Ramada. When I asked to speak with the manager, Mike on the phone left and when he returned said, “Uh.. you can talk to me. This is Mike.” Despite wanting to speak with a manager, we were redirected to speak with the front desk attendant regarding the manner, who after first being polite, became very rude and condescending. Essentially, we were told that that they placed greater trust in their employees than their guests and that we were out of luck because we waited until the day after to call. He also repeatedly stated that my story didn’t make any sense even though it was the truth, only to later contradict himself by claiming that my story did in fact make sense. When once again emphasizing that I would prefer to speak with a manager, he discouraged me by informing me that I would be told the same. I replied by saying that I wanted to hear that from him. However, speaking with the manager, Mr. Don Hinton, was no better. He believed that since previously found items had been returned in the past, he didn’t believe his staff would steal despite them permitting illegal drug use in the hotel. I would be able to get past the theft occurring in the hotel, but the quality of the customer service is absolutely unacceptable. They made absolutely no effort to assist me when it was so evident that my property was stolen under the “security” of their hotel. Not only that but also the degree of disrespect and mockery that accompanied their behavior was extremely unprofessional.

amazed for the price!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/27/10
We weren't expecting much for $59. We got a very nice room with a king bed, a refrigerator with freezer, microwave, a nice desk, and a comfortable chair. Everything was great. I would highly recommend this motel. The pool needed some work on the edges, but all in all, it was a very clean and comfortable place to stay. The staff was really nice. Can't say anything about the breakfast. we ate out.... I would definately stay here again.

Not very good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/19/10
I stay in hotels about 40 weeks out of the year for work, mainly in the midwest and this one rates near the bottom. Largely because the rooms are old and are in need of a remodel. The carpets are slightly sticky, the toilet does not flush properly, the breakfast is lacking in almost every area and there is black mold above the shower (rm 160). The staff seems to be fairly helpful although I haven't brought the mold issue to their attention. Bottom line, go elsewhere, this one is not very good.

Good value for the buck
By dr truth, 4/7/09
Liked the awesome breakfast bar, waffles, eggs, hash browns, toast, cereals, fruit, quite impressive. Rooms werent ready when we got there, but they got them done quickly for us. Clean and mostly quiet, it wasnt their fault parents cant control their kids. The one thing that was embarassing was the desk clerk screwed up entering my debit card and told me it was rejected in front of all my friends, when i went out later that night i used it and it was good. But that was it. Would stay there again (only have someone else do my card!!)

Good Service! Very helpful! Money well spent!
By Carlo, 3/15/09
There were five of us from South East Asia and it was our first time in Columbus, OHIO. Our main purpose for the visit was to watch the UFC 96. Upon arrival we called the hotel for a pick-up and after 10 minutes they were there. Our rooms were clean and had complete amenities - refrigerator, microwave, TV, toiletries, towels, extra pillow, heater/ AC...even an ironing board. The staff was very helpful in giving us suggestions on what to do and where to go. They even offered the use of the hotel shuttle at very reasonable rates (better than getting a cab). The area around the hotel had some establishments - convenience stores, bars, KFC, Wendys, Gas Station, liquor store..so, it wasn't really isolated from everything. We only stayed for 5 days but we wished to have stayed a little longer. Bottomline - the staff took good care of us and made our OHIO visit safe, comfortable and memorable.

Excellent for the $
By Whitney, 12/2/07
We checked in around 9pm the girl at the front desk was very friendly and serviciably. We called and asked for extra towels and without hestitation she brought them right up to us. Then we had to call again for extra blankets and again brought them right away. Then upon checkout staff was friendly. Clean rooms, and excellent breakfast!!!! Home away from home... Oh yes!! The beds were extremely comfortable!!

Wow...what a horrible place!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/17/07
This place was one of the worst hotels that I have ever stayed in next to the Motel 8... The service was not friendly, the room was disturbingly unclean, there were holes in the walls, and the ceiling in the bathroom looked really dirty. I have no idea who wrote the other reviews (probably the management at the hotel) but they were completely wrong. We were not offered anything near warm cookies and milk (What a joke!!!) and the area was gross. I guess that is why I don't like Columbus.. if you really want to stay at a nice hotel, the Renaissance Columbus would be an excellent choice. Please don't stay here, even if you are running low on cash!! If there was an option to give this hotel zero stars I would have picked that one.
