Great location and good pice
By Juanita H, 10/12/11
We really liked that we could walk to a lot of places, and that it was close to Dollywood. The noise on the strip takes a little while to get use to,but it is still worth the price. We really enjoyed our breakfast there each morning. Courtney, was the girl who took care of the breakfast each morning, and she was so nice, and constantly refreshing things and bringing more food out. We really enjoyed her kindness and hard work to prepare the breakfast each morning. We do feel the rooms could be cleaned better each day,but we never complained, because we weren't in the room much each day.We had clean towels each day and the beds were made, but there was dirt and dust and they don't clean everyday. I would reccommend the motel, because we liked sitting on the balcony and watching the traffic. We enjoyed walking to shops, and it is so close to the Old MIll Area which we enjoy. For the price you can't beat it!

Horrible experience I will never return!!!!!
By Kyle, 7/6/11
I booked a non-smoking room, received a smoking room. The staff told me in a very rude way the only thing we can do is treat the room for the smell. So I told her that would be ok to call the room before the maintenance tech came to the room. Well there was no call he just decided to let himself into the room unannounced as my girlfriend was stepping out of the shower. Completely unacceptable. This motel was overpriced, dirty, and outdated. I have been there every 4th of July for the past 5 years. I have seen no updates at all. I wouldn't recommend Vacation Lodge to anyone.

My butt still hurts. Thanks Chad. The beds are soft when they have five polar bears on them!

I will NEVER go back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/21/10
This place needs refurbishing. The mattresses in our room were old and hard. The pillows were well-worn and about an inch thick. (It was necessary to use two pillows just to get your head above the mattress). The room was supposed to be smoke-free; however, the musty, smoke smell was embedded in the carpet and throughout the room. Dust bunnies fell from the fan vent in the bathroom. We were set to stay for three nights, but left after one night. On the other hand, the clerk was friendly, the water was hot and the breakfast was adequate -- though high carb. Would not recommend this "lodge" to anyone.

Look elsewhere and spare yourself the misery!!!
By SteveHHH, 7/4/10
We booked a room for 2 nights through Expedia on July 3, 2010. The nights of our stay were supposed to be July 3rd and July 4th. We paid $266 for the first night and $122 for the second. The room was supposed to be a nonsmoking Suite with 2 queen beds, a fireplace, mini-kitchen and a jacuzzi. Also included was a breakfast buffet. When we arrived, the woman at the front counter told us that our room would be across the street at the Riverside Motor Lodge. We were confused, but complied because we were exhausted after 10 hours in the car. We assumed the hotels must be under the same ownership and that maybe this was a common practice to move customers from one to the other.   When we arrived at our room, we were disgusted. For one thing, it smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke even though it was marked as a nonsmoking room. The "jacuzzi" was simply a large old bathtub with jets. The carpet in the room was so dirty that our children had black feet after walking around for just 15 minutes. The bathroom door didn't close and the tub was covered in mold, as was the A/C unit.  It was simply a dirty outdated motel room, not worth the $266 that we paid. The next morning, we made several phone calls to Expedia to try to resolve this matter. They finally said that the Vacation Lodge could accommodate us for the night of July 4th, so we decided to leave the Riverside Lodge. We checked out at the front desk of the Riverside Motor Lodge and the man working there gave us $140 cash to give to the people at Vacation Lodge.....very unprofessional. We went out to breakfast before going to the Vacation Lodge and during this time, Expedia called to inform us that the owner of the Vacation Lodge, Mr. Akhil Banker, was going to call the police if we didn't bring the $140 his hotel, because apparently the money was what he had paid the Riverside Motor Lodge for our room for that night. At this point, we didn't want to deal with this man or his hotel any further.. After hours of going back and forth through Expedia, the Vacation Lodge finally agreed to refund us for the night of the 4th, but only after we brought the money in. So we did, of course and arranged for a refund through Expedia for the night of the 4th. Mr. Banker refused to make any apologies for our accommodations the previous night or even give us a partial refund. We feel completely ripped off, and like this man has very shady and unethical business practices.

UGHH!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/24/09
We booked a 5 night stay and were given a musty/moldy smelling room on the first floor. The only way that they could accomadate a move to another room was for us to pay an additional $25.00 a night above our agreed upon price. We have been there many times before, but never again. They were heartless. Question: If there wasn't a problem with the rooms being musty, why did they insist of leaving the doors open on the first floor to "air out" when people would check out? Their attitiude stunk too!

Great
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/09
This hotel has been renovated and is up to date. The room was awesome. Very, very clean. We had the king room with jacuzzi, fireplace, balcony overlooking the pool, garage parking. They called it the honeymoon room. The view was great, close to everything in pigeon forge. Walk or drive. lots of fun. I would reccomend this to a couple out for some fun and relaxation. I cannot say enough good things. The value was outstanding. The last place we stayed was more money and not half as nice. If you want relaxation, go here, ask for what you want. The staff was very accomidating and the other guests could have not been nicer. I am sure there are some hotels that rank to this one, but we will always stay here. Have a great trip.

Buyer Beware
By Budman, 12/29/08
Mr. Akhil Banker will charge your credit card, for the first night's stay, when you make your reservation. Is it LEGAL to charge for services rendered before any service has been provided? His policy is NO REFUNDS, period. The Better Business Bureau, of eastern Tennessee has given this hotel a rating of F, their lowest.

Would Recommend
By Mark, 11/10/08
We stayed here for one night at the end of October. I feel I definitely got what I payed for. This is not a luxury hotel. However, the staff was friendly, the room was clean. Free wireless internet in the room. The free continental breakfast was pretty basic. The location was great. I would have no problem staying here again.
