It grows on you
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/13/09
I spent 6 weeks at the Executive Inn this past Spring. At first, like many of you, I felt cheated after visiting the website before I arrived. My company paid for it, so that helped. After about a week, I really started to like it. The staff is great, I especially enjoyed the lounge on Friday and Saturday nights. They have a one man band on the weekends, his name is Essy, and he's great, and the bartender, Theresa makes really good drinks. The location of this hotel is wonderful, walking distance to downtown. I dont however, recommend eating at the hotel. The food was bland and overpriced. Try Jerimiahs or Does downtown. I'll be back this spring again.

update on this place
By Troy, 09/10/08
The power to the place was turned off store was on local news tonight. I can say it was a nice place in the 80's but was never a top of the top place. "Yes they had good shows good food nice rooms for the 80'. As the 90's came it went down hill nt one thing has evedr been replaced or updated at all. Take the game room it screams 80's with its pac man carpet. As 2000 came it was even more outdated with lees stuff taking place there. My view it needs to be gone not worth it to fix up or even clean up. Yes smoking was allowed in all rooms tell the mid 90'ws. Heck you could smoke any place in the hotel. The city is not that great any way. Yes there are some stores a few things to do but not a place I would take my family foe fun. If I did I would stay anyp place but here. Well no power so it will not be a place to stay. The Executive Inn Has Power Disconnected Last Update: 9/09 11:01 pm The Executive Inn Has Power Disconnected. PADUCAH, KY - Paducah Power disconnected service at The Executive Inn around 5 Tuesday evening because the bill was not paid. People who have apartments and businesses at the Executive Inn are upset because they paid rent and now have to find somewhere else to live and work. Deadline day for The Executive Inn meant pay up or lose power. A few hours before close of business, Paducah Fire Marshalls along with city inspectors and police walked through the hotel and gave residents time to pack up before Paducah Power flipped the switch. "I'm frustrated for sure because tomorrow I don't have business like I've had for many, many, many years," said John Wise. The financial representative has leased office space at the Executive Inn since it was built more than 30 years ago. While he's upset, Wise says he is not surprised no one paid the power bill because maintenance and repairs have not been addressed. Paducah Power says once the deadline for payment had passed, it gave the Management at the Big E time to tell customers and staff about the disconnection deadline but some who live and work at the hotel got little or no notice to leave. "They were crying, upset because they have nowhere to go. They've already paid this months rent so they don't have any money," said Ryan Fisher. No power also means a new location for Four Rivers Church that meets in the Executive Inn's International Rooms. "Somewhere between 250 and 320 or so people on any weekend come here at 9:30 and 11 so now we have the fun task of trying to figure out what to do between now and then," said Pastor D. Bradley Henson. "We serve the business community we want to be supportive but we also have to balance that with the responsibility we have to our owners, the rate payers of Paducah and protect them from a financial loss," said Andrea Underwood with Paducah Power. While the company could not release details about the account, it says it has to enforce payment policies equally among all customers, large and small. No power comes at a horrible time because owners of the AQS Quilt Show have yet to decide whether the Executive Inn should host the Quilt Show in April of 2009. Calls to Executive Inn Operator Bill Parsons have not been returned. Paducah Power's policy requires disconnected customers to pay any past due fees in full along with a 35 dollar reconnection fee before service is restored.

Would stay here again!
By Jim, 09/09/08
The hotel is in the process of being sold, and was pretty much empty, saw two other couples during our entire stay. I am sure this was a majestic hotel and was truely amazing, in it's day, and I hope the purchaser makes it so once again! I read the reviews prior to going and we actually paid a visit to the hotel and looked around before deciding to stay. The elevators worked and there was plenty of hot water, the ice machines were limited and the pool was closed, but overall the hotel had a great view of the river, and very convenent to downtown attractions. The bed was a little hard but the room was clean and the linens and pillows were clean and comfortable. I will plug the desk clerk as "the best," he asked what we were doing and when we discussed where we wanted to eat he called and made our dining reservations, for Cynthia's Ristorante right then. I travel a lot and very few places have that kind of great service! We also tried the Silver Saddle (located in the Executive Inn) and had a great time of dancing and music. If you are looking for a quite hotel, with good service, and convenient to downtown Paducah take a chance on this place.

Don't Ever Stay Here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/09/08
Thank goodness I read the reviews of this hotel before going to Paducah. I changed my reservations to another hotel, yet went to the E.I. for some meetings. The reviews are right. This place is BAD. Stay somewhere else and drive over to your business meeting here.

Listen to me...stay somewhere else!
By Kelly, 08/01/08
Every negative review on this hotel is absolutelhy true. Old, dirty, HOT, creepy, weird.....I could go on an on. More specifically, the shower is cold. The elevators do NOT work, I had to take the stairs my whole stay (on 3rd floor). Room was filty. Hotel tempatrue was LITERALY 86 degrees. So much negative aspects surround this hotel it amazed me. I stayed here with co-workers, and we all felt the same way. I DO NOT see how anyone can write a positive review about this place. It was awlful and will not be in business long. Do not stay here...seriously. Any positive review is false, or they haven't stayed here in a while. Worst place I've stayed in 8 years!

Horrific! Beware! Terrible!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/09/08
First of I'd like to point out that this hotel was BEHIND the flood wall. Meaning that this hotel has probably been flooded many times in its history. It certainly smelled that way on the first few floors. It was EXTREMELY hot and humid there. Especially in the hallways on the upper floors. I'm very aware that heat rises but that place was a sauna. The staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. Basically every "luxury" that they list in their pamphlet, such as: "local restaurant menus at front desk", is a flat out lie. They do not have them. The comforter had what looked to be a cigarette burn right through it. The room smelt very musty and there was an old used cigarette under the sink. Also there was no ice in any of the ice machines and the carpet in front of the ice machine on the 4th floor was soaked, ruined, and probably molding as no one was even making an attempt to soak up the water. Beware of the elevators. They have a habit of not coming when you call them or going to the wrong floor or shaking excessively when traveling from floor to floor. I stayed there for an anime convention so I also spent a great deal of time in the convention center. There were leaks in the ceiling that had been there since 2006 (as I was informed by a fellow con goer). The convention center rooms were very poor. While it provided enough space for the convention, most of the rooms were very dirty. The ceiling tiles looked to be molding and falling out and, like the rest of the hotel, the convention center smelt very musty. The only redeeming factor to this hotel at all was that the breakfast was pretty good. Bottom line, don't stay at this hotel unless you absolutely have to. You will survive the night, but you probably won't be very comfortable.

Three stars - How? Should be One -June 6,2008
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/07/08
My family and I came for a Anime Convention and it was Terrible. Bathroom had previous guests shampoo & soap still on ledge & running down (had not been cleaned) Dust was awful! I called to housekeeping & was told they would make it right, how???? The site states pay phones, NO, ATMs, NO, clean rooms, NO, shopping, NO, no ice on any floor and when I went to the front desk to state my reason for asking if something can be done, I was told nothing can be done.....not even a $10.00 discount. You can bet we will never be back again, Anime Convention or not.....Hope it is better for you but I doubt it!!!! GOOD LUCK!

AQS Show Attendee
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/25/08
Not even worth one star, but one is required by the survey. One means awful....it was more then Awful. Like a previous review, we stayed there as part of the Country Heritage Tours. The tour company does not reserve the entire hotel....just enough rooms to house 187 of us that were on the tour. I will not add anymore to what was written about the conditions as that was a good explanation of what it was like. Because the conditions were so bad, each of us received a letter of regret from Country Heritage Tours at the end of the tour with the promise of a $100.00 savings on a future tour with them. This is something they did not have to do. It was explained to us that they had reserved the necessary rooms a year in advance with a non-refundable deposit. This tour group had used that property for several years, and were shocked to see how much it had declined in just the last year. There had been promises from the new owner the previous year that it would be remodeled, etc. in time for the show this year, and of course that never happened, and it only got worse. It will be interesting to see what happens to this property. I would not be surprised to see it torn down as there is just too much needed to do to bring it up to decent standards. And the city has heard enough from unhappy tourists and tour companies. By now if you are reading any of these reviews you know not to consider staying there. BTW, the exterior looks like our county jail. Gray concrete, no paint.

It's a prison !
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/27/08
April 27, 2008 To Whom It May Concern: My wife had been looking forward to the AQS quilting convention in Paducah Kentucky for almost an entire year. We were told that the Executive Inn was the place to stay because it was at the convention center. Apparently Country Heritage Tours books out the entire hotel every year for this event so we ended up paying $2,400 for the whole package which included transportation to and from the Nashville airport, hotel accommodations, breakfast and a couple of dinners. Our Country Heritage Tour guide was great, but the accommodations at the Executive Inn in Paducah were horrible. We were on the 4th floor of section 2. We were told the rooms were non-smoking but the cigarette smell in the room was so bad that it made our throats sore. The shower/tub had cigarette burns and the caulking had mold growing on it. The sliding shower curtain would not stay closed. The water pressure was not strong enough for my wife to wash her hair and the showers were cold if you didn’t choose the right time of day. The toilet rocked when you sat down on it. The window looking outside was extremely dirty and looked like it hadn't been cleaned for over a year. The air conditioner in our room got warmer with each day and then stopped working. We eventually had to get another room, which smelled much worse. None of the ice machines on the 3rd and 4th floors worked. We finally found one that worked on the 2nd floor. The air conditioner in the main part of the hotel did not keep up the heat outside the building even though it was only 80 degrees outside. The carpets in the lobby were worn out and stained. One of the skylights was broken and allowed rain to come into the lobby. We noticed several ceiling tiles in the hallways that were about to fall down. Inside the restaurant there was water dripping from the ceiling onto the table they wanted to sit us at. We also noticed water dripping from the ceiling in several other meeting rooms. The elevators were an adventure. You never knew if they were going to work or not. One time we waited for 2 minutes for the doors to close. We finally gave up and took the stairs. Most of the time we kept our fingers crossed that the doors were going to open once we arrived on our floor. The breakfast cafe in the hotel gave us plastic silverware to eat with and Styrofoam cups to drink out of. The large swimming pool was gross. It was heavily stained with black algae and needed to be cleaned or re-plastered. I never saw anyone use it the entire time we were there. The wireless Internet they advertised did not work unless you walked into the Internet Café. The front desk said they were working on it, but after our 5th day it still didn’t work in our room. One lady from another group attended a quilting class and forgot to check out on time. They charged her an additional $125 for a late check-out. Another lady had stored her medication in the refrigerator. The refrigerator froze her Pepsi, which caused it to burst and destroy the medication. The front desk told her that they didn't have the funding to replace her medication. Every time we passed the front desk we could hear someone complaining about something. The staff were not very well trained and their uniforms were old, stained and didn’t fit well. The maid forgot to give us a bath mat one day and toilet paper the next day. I had to remake our bed as the mattress pad was all bunched up and hadn’t been straightened. Some of the people we were with said that the hotel reminded them of "Sing Sing" the prison. I agree. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, so next time we will rent a car, drive a little bit, stay somewhere nicer and save a lot of money.

Can't Slide Much Further
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/26/08
Over the last 20 years I have watched this hotel go downhill. This will be my last stay. The staff was rude -- service non-existant. The maid did not set foot in the room for two days. There were no hangers -- coffee for the coffee maker not there. Internet service (which I need for my job) spotty -- to not at all. It seemed to only work well after 10:00 at night. The buffet breakfast is a pre-payed $10.00. The food was inedible and drinks were never served. Public areas dirty and airconditioning in hallways not on most of the time making the atrium feel like a greenhouse. Everything dated...dirty....and certainly not worth what they charge.
