Great Supervisor/Bad Manager
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/27/06
My stay at the Southfield location was almost ruined by the poor management skills of one of the female employees. I had booked a Pajama Jam Package for my stepdaughter and her friends the evening prior. The manager took the reservation herself. Upon my arrival I was told by a very nice female supervisor that they didn't allow parties in the hotel but as long as we kept it quiet and there were no complaints from the other guests that we could go ahead with our plans. The manager who took my resevation walked in and insisted that we could not proceed with our plans. She admitted taking the reservation but would not admit that she failed to explain to me that the hotel does not allow parties. I specifically told her the evening before of what I was looking for and why. The Pajama Jam Package was actually her idea because it was the closest thing to a Party Package that they could provide. So WHY didn't she tell me at that point that ballons and cake were not allowed in the hotel rooms? Also, she failed to inform me that only the kids who were staying over would be permitted to use the pool. Another huge oversight on her part. Anyway after about an hour of going back and forth with this woman, the young female supervisor pulled her to the side and talked some sense into her. Thus providing us with a meeting room where we were able to decorate, eat cake and have an enjoyable birthday celebration. Other than the issues with this one particular manager the rest of the staff was very curtious and quite helpful. Especially the Supervisor who pretty much saved the day for me. The entire hotel is immaculate and cozy. I would reccomend it to anyone. I am in the process of filing a formal complaint in which I will make sure that the actions of all persons involved receive a complete description of their involvement in this matter.
