Very unprofessional
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/21/11
This place is a joke....I stayed there last night and the phone was out as well as the internet. I called down to ask about it and the person at the front desk said, "what do you want me to do about it?" Very unprofessional!

Newly renovated Friends Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/3/11
We stayed at the newly renovated Friend's Inn now known as Travel Lodge for a weekend of Basketball Camp. Not only were the rooms newly renovated with new carpeting, paint, bedding, etc.. there was a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and a continental breakfast awaiting us in the morning. The staff could not have been kinder. They were very accomodating and put our entire group in the same area so we could all be together. The hotel is very convenient for WVU visitors, plenty of restaurants within walking and driving distance. I would stay there again if we head back to WVU.

WARNING WARNING !!!!
By laurie, 8/22/10
If I dont write this I would feel horrible not to let families with kids that are looking for a place to stay at Morgantown. Let me share the most horrible experience that I have ever had at a hotel. Being there for the first ime at Morgantown to drop off my son at West Virginia University I was etremely happy to see what a beautiful town and and the people that lived there. I arrived at the Friend Inn ( DO NOT LET THE NAME MISGUIDE YOU !!! THERE IS NOTHING FRIENDLY ABOUT THIS PLACE !!) I had a delay to get the keys but we were so tired that I just wanted to get to my room we neede to be up at 6am to head for my sons orientation at 7am. Next morning I returned one of the keys since my son was staying at the dorm . When went to the office I was helped by the most obnoxious indu man. He said that I had to return the other room key because he had already booked it to someone else. I said to him what would it matter if the two rooms were identical. I had left all my stuff in that room and needed to be with my son at his school in 10 minutes. he said " I dont care" !! I was so upset that I went back to the room pick up my stuff put it in my car since I had no time to pack for safe keeping and told him that i would pick up the kay after I had settled my son at his dorm. As exhusted that I was I got back to the hotel at 11pm with my 10 year old daughter and the same indu man was there. I asked him for my keys and he said he had givin my room away !!!. I my GOD !! I had paid with my credit card which means that room was GUARANTEED for me that day !!. I told him he could not do that it was againt the rules. The man said tough! that he could do whatever he wanted there!! and started using vulgarity in front of my daughter and started yelling !!!. I was MORTIFIED !!! and told him how do you expect me to find a hotel at this time. My daughter was crying hysterical !!! . With no where to go i began driving to find another hotel. I landed at the waterfront hotel which unfortunately they were booked but they did all they could to find me a hotel. I had to drive 30 miles and it was already 1am . If it wasnt for the waterfront I would have had no other choice but to sleep with my daughter in the car !! . PLEASE PLEASE !!! YOU DO NOT WANT TO GO THROUGH WITH WHAT A HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE THAT I WENT THROUGH WITH YOUR FAMILY !!! THE INDIAN MAN WAS THE OWNER AND HAD NO REMORSE OR PROBLEM TO CURSE YELL NO MATTER WHO WAS THERE !! I AM WARNING YOU TO PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER THIS MISREBLE DIGUSTING HOTEL TO STAY WITH YOU LOVED ONES !!!!

Only 1 word to describe this place - disgusting!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/14/09
I have never stayed in such a disgusting place as this. We checked in at 2:00 a.m. after spending 1 1/2 hours searching for a place with a vacancy. We saw the AAA sign on the wall and thought it couldn't be that bad. We walked into our room and were so disgusted at what we saw. The carpet was stained all over. The pillow cases were dirty and there was a hair in the bed. The bathroom was no better. The towels were old and yellow, there was a hair on the bathroom floor and the toilet paper roll was hanging off the wall. We had asked for a wake up call for 8:00 a.m. Since it was already 2:00 a.m., we had no choice but to stay. After laying there, not being able to sleep, we checked out 4 hours later. I have never been so disgusted in my hole life. Don't waste your money. We would have gotten more sleep if we had slept in the car.

Rather stay in my car
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/8/09
Management was very rude and disrespectful--called cops and blantantly lied that we damaged property and then accused of transpassing although we were staying there. Then blocked our way from leaving illegally. Claimed he was the owner although he was simply managing the place. Enjoys towing vehicles away so you have to park on the street even at dark. Then he calls other hotels if you try to leave and tells them that you damaged the room so that the other places won't accept you. He is well-known by the local enforcement and the other hotels for harrassing his guests. If you are of a minority, beware--they will make your lives miserable!!! I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy.

Bad experience March 2009
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/14/09
We arrived at the hotel on a Thursday night after seeing advertisements for each room at 39.00 per night. We ended up paying 59 plus taxes for one and 69 plus taxes for the second one. As it was late we could not go driving around. Got to the room, looked okay, but when I turned the sheets there was body fluids on the bottom sheet and the pillow case was stained with ladie's makeup. Asked the motel staff for two extra towels as I have long hair, were only given one. Then no hot water in the second room so the family could not shower. Staff not the nicest and not receptive at all.

Should be called "Ghetto in the Hills" Inn
By D, 11/11/08
I've stayed there every game this season (Cincy will be the last). Here are my comments... As you read each one, note to yourself that a reservation at the friends inn costs $335 for the required 2 nights @ $150 and taxes: The BAD 1 - Don't expect hot water after 10 AM 2 - Watch out for the blood stains on the box springs 3 - Pillows come in all shapes and sizes 4 - Mattress keeps you up nights (even after a whole day of drinking in the blue lot) 5 - Owner is a jerk 6 - Count on the Remote or the TV not working 7 - The rooms havent been renovated since Hostetler was the QB The not-so-bad: 1 - Its right next to the stadium and available. Good luck finding a place to crash at the residence inn (sold out) or the Hampton Inn ($299 per night) 2 - Considering how run down and nasty the rooms are, the cleaning staff works a miracle. They make a place with 1976 furnishings look like 1989 3 - Free newspapers 4 - A slight step-up from the Morgantown Motel (but that place is only $50 a night for the same scabies) Someone SHOULD write the better business bureau on that place. I have stayed in nicer accommodations in Afghanistan.

Forget about it!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/25/08
We had a reservation for hotel with a supposed discount for families that had a loved one in MonGen Hospital. There is no such animal as a discount. The manager was extremely rude. Called the front desk to request additional wash cloths and was told "One is enough for anyone", forget the fact that you had already used the towels and all the night before. My suggestion is to totally boycott this facility. The manager definitely needs anger management classes and etiquette in how to deal with the public. Put this on your no-stay list!!

Completely dissatisfied and treated terribly!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/29/08
Reserved adjoining rooms two weeks in advance, with confirmation. When we arrived, the rooms were not adjoining. The front desk clerk recommended we ask for a discunt on the rooms when he could not provide us with the rooms we reserved. When we discussed this with the owner at the time of check-out, he was extremely rude & nasty. He insisted I did not reserve adjoining rooms and told me to leave the hotel. Also, the rooms did not have all of the accommodations that were listed on the web site. (a coffiee pot, and the hotel did not offer coffee in the lobby). I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
