Serendipity Bed and Breakfast Inn, Myrtle Beach

We could not stand the mildew smell. The look of the room was okay, but had a sheet or something for a closet door. Behind it was misc, storage of junk! This was the closet we were supposed to use! Too messy!

great service and location, the owners phil and kay were very nice and helpful while we stayed. the price for all this beats thebigger resorts hands down.

The guests are usually Christians and always friendly. We love the food and the price and location are great!! The food is great and it is a short walk to the beach.

I recently visited Serendipity Inn with my 12 yr. old daughter and one of her best friends (girl trip). We were thrilled to find a such a relaxing and inviting atmosphere. Not only did the antique furnishings in our room look beautiful, but the beds were sooooo comfortable (the pillows were great, too!!!). The inn has a library of dvds that are available to guests and our room had a variety of books. Phil and Kay were the perfect hosts and very available if we needed any assistance. And breakfast - I can't compliment them enough!!! Fresh fruit, boiled eggs, bagels, muffins, fresh coffee, hot tea, hot chocolate and juice - and homemade items each day (I have to say my favorite was the cherry tea cake) served in a cozy setting complete with place settings for each of us (we didn't notice any plastic silverware). It was not your typical continental breakfast. The location was very convenient (5 minute walk to the beach and walking distance to a variety of restaurants). The pool was not yet open, but the weather was chilly, so that was not a problem. The hot tub was great. Even though it was cold, I couldn't resist taking a book and a blanket to a lounge chair in the courtyard. This is definitely a nice alternative to the hustle and bustle of a large hotel. We are looking very forward to our next visit.

This compact B&B is one building back from the main road but you feel like you're in another place than Myrtle Beach. It's so quiet you can hear the fountain in the courtyard! and it is just a pretty little property. Beautiful flowers and plantings are all around the area and the pool is just wonderful. The breakfast was a pleasant surprise, lots of fruit, cereal and sweets to choose from. Homemade breakfast sandwiches are outstanding as well as different other homemade goodies daily. Phil is always right there to make sure your needs are taken care of. I judge my vacations by the food I eat and this one gets an A. Soda and water is supplied near the pool. The rooms are very clean, quiet and have everything you would need. The sheets are so soft and Phil knows how to make a bed, something hotels should take a lesson in. A pool towel is supplied. Thanks for a memorable time, Phil, and we'll be seeing you next year. So if you're wondering about booking this place look no further. It's so worth it. My only suggestion would be to spread your magic and somehow make everyones visit last a little longer. Margaret and Roy

We loved our room, the peace and quiet, everything is clean, and the courteous service. Breakfast is always nice and Phil seems to be one of the nicest owners you could ever ask for. You get personal service that you won't get at bigger places because the owners live on site, and not to mention they are sweet. It's a great place to take your family for a peaceful vacation. I will definitely go back every year. Would recommend this place to anyone we know!!

My husband and I just returned from the Serendipity Inn. Phil the owner was extremely rude, and falsely accused me of throwing cigarette butts in the courtyard! He came to our door the last day we were there with a handful of cigarette butts, claiming that I was throwing them in the courtyard, and that he had picked them up already one time that morning. (We had been at the beach all day! We had only been back approx. an hour) Not only was the pool area packed with people, but he was not quiet about his accusation! I was terribly embarrased, and hurt that he was treating me so terrible and making totally false accusations!! When we checked out the next morning, he never so much as said two words to me. I handed him the key to our room,he gave me a mean disgusted look and I never heard a thank you from him or anything! We also did not appreciate him coming into our room everyday and rearranging things. We could understand opening the door and placing clean towels inside, but he threw stuff away that we were wanting to keep. Every other B & B we have stayed at has emptied the trash, placed clean towels in the room and left. We always stay at bed and breakfasts, but this was the worst experience we have ever had!!! We will not go back there, and we will not recommend it to our family or friends! I have honestly never been treated so terrible! I could have stayed at a Motel 6 that had more courteous people working there! I am sure that by now he is aware that I was not the one doing it since we checked out on Wednesday, but I am also sure I will not receive an appology from him either!

My family just returned from our third stay at Serendipity Inn. We just love the atmosphere there. We were married there in 2001, and plan to return as long as the Inn is there. The quiet and solitude we've experience cannot be found at the large seaside resorts. The owners are 'hands on', and from our perspective will do pretty much anything to make your stay a good one. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance, and the beach is a very short 5 minute walk. Close enough to be there quickly, but far enough to be "off the beaten path".

I liked this quiet little inn. It was away from the main drag and away from all the drunken college gatherings. Yet it is still close enough to walk to the beach. The courtyard with the pool is charming. The continental breakfast is excellent and they have some great breakfast breads. Phil (the owner)took great care of us. Rooms are clean. My only regret is that I didn't upgrade to a room with a kitchen. Eating out with a family turned out to be very expensive. This is a good stay for the money.
