Loved the Fox!
By Vanessa, 5/23/05
We decided to get out of DC for a night and stayed at the Red Fox Inn on May 20, 2005. Overall, we absolutely loved it! The Inn itself is a historic landmark, and has retained all of its charm and ambience. You can't beat its central location. The rooms are large, clean, very well-appointed and quiet. We had a marvelous dinner at the Inn's restaurant, which I could have stayed in for days. The waitresses let us try multiple wines until we found one we liked, which was very nice. A couple of areas for improvement: we were not informed we had a room in the Stray Fox Inn, its sister building. When we checked in, we were told we were in a different building, and were given unclear directions as to how to walk there. We were not offered any assistance with our bags (we didn't need it, but...), and the girl at the desk forgot to give us our keys and had to chase after us. One of the robes in the room(one of two) had dirt smudges on it, which was disappointing. Eventhough we'd go back in a heartbeat, I think $195 is too expensive for our experience there - $145 would be more appropriate, especially becase the breakfast (while lovely) is only continental. We'll probably stay at another b&b next time that's less expensive, but will definitely eat dinner at the Red Fox. You have to stay there at least once though!

The experience of a life time!!!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/3/04
Our stay in the inn was outstanding! We were treated like royality, all our needs were fullfilled. If you want to get away from the everyday hectic life of the city I highly recommend The Red Fox Inn.

We made reservations in the restaurant for 8pm, when we entered we were greeted with a huge smile from the lovely lady who was seating the guests ( we later found out that she was the restaurant manager, her name is Lucy). When we had made the reservation we requested a cozy corner table, the restaurant was extremly busy, Lucy explained very kindly that our cozy table was not quite ready (as if we cared, we aleady felt so welcome as if we were the only two people in the building), she kindly offered us a complintary glass of wine while we waited. In no time at all we were lead to our cozy corner table. As when started to glance over the menu our server approached us, she introduced herself and made some wonderful recommandations. Her name was Margaret, an extremly lovely Irish lady who has been there for 15 years. We had the meal of the a life time, we were made so at home.

When ever you are so lucky to visit The Red Fox Inn I recommend the peanut soup, the crab cakes that are nothing but crab, and our visit wouldn't have been complete without the lovely Margaret who made us feel right at home.
