Disappointing!
By Deborah, 10/24/09
We had stayed here before and loved the view and friendliness of the staff and the location. This time though we arrived to find the new bridge blocking a good deal of the view, we were awaken on a rainy Saturday morning at 7am to constuction sounds, we had no coffee maker in the room, and only the front desk lady the day we arrived was friendly or helpful. We could have walked about even in the rain if the road had not flooded not only due to the rain for construction causing more problems for pedestrians and cars. The new bridge also impacts views from Hampton Inn and other hotels so beware. When asked how we enjoyed our stay and I mentioned the early morning noise, etc I got no comment from the person checking us out. At the rate we paid for the room, $165 per night, I would have expected more. On our next visit we will stay elsewhere. They need to make changes in their description of location and views as it is no longer true.

great place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/14/08
This was a very clean, beautiful place to stay - inside and out! Not only was our room gorgeous, but the view from the balcony was great as well. very peaceful, serene and clean. The lovely wooded park area with 2 fountains in the front was a wonderful added touch to the place. A little pricy but worth it!

breakfasting with an eagle
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/24/08
Whenever we weekend on the Eastern Shore we always stay at the Island Motor Inn Resort on picturesque Chincoteague. The drive off Rte13 to the causway is easy, the front desk and resturant staff friendly and informative, and the views over the waterway after a long day in the car are breathtakingly peaceful and wonderful, especially at sunset. As antique dealers, Doug and I weekend a lot, so I aways pack Yankee candles, cut glass old-fashioneds for savoring our favorite Teachers scotch and a boombox for relaxing to Elgar, Debussy or Ravel. But we particularly still reminisce about the special Sunday morning last March, when we watched a beautiful bald eagle in the mud flats directly below our balcony enjoying his breakfast just as we were enjoying ours. He sat there for at lease 15 minutes, tearing away at his fish while we enjoyed our more traditional bacon, eggs, orange juice and coffee and watched him through the binoculars we always keep in the car. Wow! What an unforgettable moment for card-carrying birdwatchers like us. Kudoos to the Island Motor Inn Resort. We're really looking forward to going back. Irene Spangler.

We'll be going up the street
By BarbaraS, 10/27/07
While we have always stayed at the Island Motor Inn when visiting Chincoteague, we'll be going elsewhere next time. We just couldn't get past the musty smell of our room when visting earlier this week. Everything else was fine, but the musty smell was too much.

Favorite Retreat
By joyshare, 08/28/07
My husband and I have spent three lovely times here, one of them we rented a room fo rmy mother in law to celebrtae her 85th birthday. She loved it as we do. she got us to use the indoor pool for sure! this place gave us a spot on the water to enjoy, hammocks and swings to relax on and beautiful sunset and views of birds. Yes, some new places have co-opted that part of the Chincoteague waterfront, but none is as intimate and personal as Island Motor Inn. My only complaint is no in-room coffee!!

no coffee pots in room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/22/07
We go to the island all the time and stay at all the nicer motels. Even thru the winter. The Island Motor Inn was our favorite until the other nicer motels moved in up to par with their amenities and the price they want. They have no coffee pots in the rooms and no microvave, no continental breakfast and yet want to charge the same price as the upper scale motels. The rooms are nice but so are the other motels.

An otustanding place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/09/06
Our room had a great view, was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The outside areas and pool looked very well kept although we did not use them. We would definitely stay here again.

Great view
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/09/06
Our family has stayed here several times. All rooms face the western sunset. Get a room on the second or third floor for your best view. Property sits on the water and has a nice boardwalk in the back. You are in easy bicycling distance to Assateague National Park and all the wild ponies and birdlife.

love this place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/06
We come back every 4 or 5 weeks for 2 to 4 days. So relaxing, clean, nice personal. Why they even wash the parking lot every day! On the other comments, if you did not come to get a key for the hot tub room, you could have 100 people in at once. They allow a limited amount of people for your enjoyment and relaxation as you soak and watch the sun go down. I don't want a bunch of little kids in while enjoying this. Also, they have an excellent gym for the size and their trainer has helped us and is outstanding and free. He trains people on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sat and Sun until noon only, not everyday as stated in another review. They told us they built their reputation on cleanliness, service and quietness so people will be able to unwind from their daily stress while on vacation. We have come to realize that and will always stay with the folks there.
