We had never stayed at a bed and breakfast before so i wasn't sure what to expect. It was wonderful. We stayed upstairs in the room that Andrew Jackson stayed in!! The breakfast was so delicious!! I enjoyed walking the grounds and seeing the old cemetery and slave quarters. It was so peaceful to sit on the huge front porch reading!!! I sat out there undisturbed for over an hour (i would have remained there longer but my husband was ready to tour the town)
I cant wait to go back!!! Ms. Mary was wonderful and friendly. We were there while every one was preparing for Hurricane Gustav and we still received wonderful treatment during that busy time!!!
The only thing I did'nt like about the place was the staff. They were'nt rude but they were definitely not friendly. When we first arrived we were not greeted at all. WE were showed to our room and told when coffee and breakfast would be served the next morning-period. You even have to wait till the following morning to take a tour. We found out the next morning that the room we stayed in was the one that Andrew Jackson had stayed in. That would have been very nice to have been told that when we were showed to our room. If you're looking for a very old and peaceful place to stay at, then you won't be dissapointed. Just be sure to ask alot of questons when you check in.
WE HAD A NICE STAY AT THIS B AND B. THE ATMOSPHERE WAS STRONG HERE. IF YOU DONT MIND A LITTLE MUSTY SMELL EVERY NOW AND THEN.IT WAS A CLEAN PLACE,DONT GET ME WRONG. IT'S JUST OLD. BUT OLD AND AUTHENTIC GO HAND AND HAND I GUESS. THE BREAKFAST WAS SO CHARMING IN THAT OLD DINING ROOM. ITS EASY TO GET SWEPT UP IN ALL THE SURROUNDINGS. THE TOUR WAS GREAT.AND SO WAS THE OLD FAMILY CEMETARY. AND DONT FORGET COFFEE ON THE FRONT PORCH IN THE MORNING. WE HOPE TO GO BACK ONE DAY.
