The Village Square, Hyde Park

When we arrived the key did not even fit the door. We had to go back to the office and then the lady behind the desk walked us to the room with another key (not even the same number on the key tag). We had been told if we arrived after 9 pm they would leave a key for us. That would have been great because the key we were given did not fit our door. She said "oh, we changed the keys recently." The odor hit you as soon as you went in the door. Took me a half hour but realized there was an air freshner plugged into the wall. Which I then removed. My husband has breathing problems so this odor was not good for him. We would not have stayed but were tired after a long day. The shower head was broken. There was no lamp on the desk. No electrical outlet in the bathroom. They made a big deal about having a continental breakfast from 8 to 11 am. Well, we pulled up to the office at 8:05 am and the office was closed. So we went to the Eveready Diner (great place) for breakfast. We came back at 8:55 am to return the key, and it appeared the woman had just finished putting the breakfast out. I never stayed in a place that was so dingy. Certainly don't recommend this place to anyone and the price was high for such a dump.

I stayed here because I was in town seeing a doctor. I have tried every motel in the Hyde Park area and this one was the worst. I understand that when you are on a limited budget that you expect to find a hotel that is average. Compared to other motels in the area you pay more and get less. This was horrible though, I would never go here again. The room was fifty, outdated (ok that's to be expected), loud, and the towels and bedding had holes in them. I would expect that the bedding and towels would be cheap and older but this was disgusting. The room also smelled like sour cigarettes. Beware

The hotel was not expensive BUT not cheap either( as conditions warranted) Very dated rooms with old furniture. Towels were old and worn and one was completely ripped. though Staff was courteous. Good if you are desperate for a place to stay for one night

The Village Square is a one level motel/motor inn. It is a nice place and the staff and housekeeper are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and it was very quiet. I told the women at the desk about the picture on the yahoo site and she said they didn't put it there and are trying to have it removed. Dealing with yahoo my self I understand.

Has funky retro charm. Expect basic, clean accomodations...nothing fancy, but good for the budget traveler. Staff was friendly and helpful. Convenient to all Hyde Park attractions.

I don't know what hotel is in the above picture, but it sure wasn't the Village Square on Albany Post Rd in Hyde Park! I went there this weekend to visit my daughter at the CIA and the Village Square I stopped at looked more like the motel from the movie 'Vacancy'! I ended up at the Quality Inn! Of course, if anyone knows the name and location of the hotel in picture, please post it because I would really like to stay there the next time I visit my daughter.

For the price it was well worth it. Clean room. Clean lobby. Friendly staff. My family and I will go back very soon. I would recomend the Village Square to anyone who is traveling to the Hyde Park area.

I liked this place. The room was very clean including our sheets. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was great near all the attractions we went to see. I would reccomend the Village Square, if you are looking for a friendly clean & quiet place to stay.

We liked our stay very much. Our room was exeptionally clean. The sheets are beige so maybe that poster thought they were supposed to be white. Any way, the staff went out of there way to accomidate us on a very busy October weekend. As someone wrote before, it is not the Ritz and I didn't expect it to be. They had a guest book in the lobby that had many positive compliments. I even over heard a conversation between the desk clerk and a return guest who had been visiting, who loved it there. I was impressed how nice the staff was and how well the housekeeper cleaned. Gracias Serora' ! We will definatley stay there again.

We will never stay there again. I read some reviews that said it had been redone.... well if that's the case, they should try again. The bed linens were dirty, the room was full of spiders, the carpet was dirty, the room was dusty and the bed was atrocious... other than that it was fine... laugh!
