10 reviews for Ashling Cottage, Spring Lake
Extremely pleased with the place & the new owners!
By ElazarM, 02/23/09
Ashling is only one block from the ocean and one block from Spring Lake. The new owners bent over backwards to accomodate our special needs. Really sweet and kind people who know how to be friendly without getting in the way. Very clean place and all around a relaxing vacation. Would go back. There wasn't anything i didn't like about it. They waited up late for us to arrive and did anything they could to accomodate.

New owners! Most occomidating!
By Stephanie, 11/25/08
I stayed here the weekend of my wedding and had a wonderful experience. Linda and Peter (the new owners) treated me like family. They went above and beyond to make my wedding day most memoriable. I had my wedding photos taken here because it's so beautiful and has so much character. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone who wants to be treated like family.

Stole over $1100 from my checking account
By MattG, 07/23/08
I was charged $1112.12 for a deposit fee for one night at the cottage. I noticed the transaction because it completely wiped out my checking account and I was overdrawn from paying bills. Bill "the owner" was nice enough to give me my money back 10 days after taking it. No compensation was offered. No reduction on room rate. Worst customer service I've ever received (especially from such a small operation).

Favorite B&B in Spring Lake
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/19/05
We have been going to Spring lake for years and have stayed in several places. None of which do we like as much as the Ashling Cottage. Joan and Bill provided us with a perfect way to get away to the beach. We really enjoyed the location, being one block from the beach and a short walk to our favorite restaraunt Whispers just across the lake. The breakfast always seems to be something creative and is always fresh and hot off the stove. Our accomadations were beautiful. We really enjoy biking around Spring Lake with the bikes provided and coming back to such a cosy establishment. Thank you Ashling Cottage, you guys are like family now.

A Perfect Beach Retreat
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/18/05
The Ashling Cottage is quite simply the perfect get away for a weekend or a week of beach relaxation. Just one block from the beach it provided my wife and I a chance to relax and spend time on the most beautiful beach. Our day would begin with the owners serving us a stellar three course breakfast, with fresh fruit, waffles with strawberries and wipped cream, and homemade muffins, with pletty of coffee to take for a walk on the beach just one block away. We would go for a bike ride around ten and then retreat to the beach for the afternoon. The owners have plenty of good suggestions for dinner within waking distance. The B&B was so cosy and warm with a cathedral living room by a fireplace, our room with a fireplace, it was very hard to leave. We would like to thank the owners for a spectacular vacation. They went the extra yard for us and needless to say we will be back.

Pleasant Dreams
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/18/05
Warm presence and pleasant, no pressure atmosphere . Really felt like a guest. Take the clocks away and just ease into a nice comfortable chair. Great porch, beautiful tree lined street. Church bells in the distance was a nice unexpected sound. Easy walk to the beach. Fireplace was a nice touch in our bedroom. Bed with quilt was very comfy. Many small nick nacks about the inn which made for interesting viewing. Plenty of reading material and brochures on things to do and see. Good place to get away from the frizzle and frazzle of city pressures.

Can't wait for next time!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/18/05
Ashling Cottage was a cute, relaxing getaway, a block to the beach. The treehouse room was very quiet and secluded up in the trees. There was easy access to snacks and a refrigerator full of soda and water in the foyer of the cottage. Breakfast in the morning was in a relaxing atmosphere with home-tasting food. The cottage provided us with bikes for our Saturday excursion. Recommended to all!!

Perfect Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/17/05
I love Ashling Cottage. This B&B is a cozy beach home with top-notch amenities--a block from the beach and a short walk to great shops and restaurants. I have stayed in various rooms at Ashling Cottage. I have my favorites but each room has been lovely, clean and confortable. The owners are friendly and helpful. I like my privacy and they respect that, too. I go back whenever I'm on the East coast. A very minor drawback is that the town doesn't allow overnight street parking. Good news is that overnight parking can be easily found one block away and allows a short, pretty walk in the evening before bedtime.

Can't wait to go back to our favorite B&B
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/17/05
Ashling Cottage has the perfect location - just a block in from the boardbalk/beach, a block from the Lake and walking distance to town. It was cozy and very casual and the owners made us feel right at home. We especially loved the homemade breakfast and our room with a fireplace. We'll definitely come back and highly recommend this place!

Restful Retreat
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/29/04
This was a charming Inn close to beach/shopping/lake. I liked the more casual furnishings - quite lovely, but not too ornate. I peeked in most of the rooms before many of the guests arrived. Only 1 I recall has a TV (fine with me, that's not what I was there for) and all were quite nice. Breafast was 2 courses and very good, but was served only from 9:00 - 10:00. We were originally in a room off the back with a private entrance and porch. This room was VERY TINY and lacked any desire. It was also noisy as it backed up against the kitchen. Once we moved inside the actual inn our experience improved significantly. It is one of the few B&B's I would definitly go back to.
