Thanksgiving Dinner 2008
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/28/08
What a wonderful Thanksgiving Meal the Inn on NewFound Lake had!!!! From the scrumptious buffet salads and appertizers to the Roast Turkey and Prime Rib and onto the desserts. Remarkably delicious. I would recommend them to anyone!!! D. Rodgers & B. WIlkinson of North Woodstock, NH

Beautiful evening gone bad
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/11/08
I have not stayed at the inn and I assume it is very nice because the grounds are beautiful, the porch looking out at the lake is one of the best spots to be in New Hampshire. Problem is don't ask to sit out on the porch and have a table for outside dining. We were not familiar with the "rules", so asked for outside seating. After we were seated I stated that I would love to sit on the rockers and little couch while having our cocktails. The waitress was unpleasant and stated she guessed it was OK. After we were seated, the owner came out and in front of the customers on the porch made us know that we would have to move if it got busy...which we understood but he continued the lecture well beyond what was necessary. The seating is very close and he went on to talk to another table about his distain for people looking for employment who have tatoo and piercing and he used "f...in" throughout his conversation. He is not an Obama fan and used derogatory comments. I felt his conversation was inappropriate and unprofessional given the atmosphere. We were seated and my sister in law had to ask our waitress for more coffee, later a knife. Three of four meals came out and she placed them in front of the wrong people. While handing my sister in law her meal, she apologized for her fat "..." being in the way because she was reaching over the table. Again, for a fine dining experience, it is not the language you expect. She told us the fourth meal would be right out and that was the last we saw of her for the remainder of our meal. Twenty minutes later my brother in law was brought his meal with an apology by a nice waitress that it was her fault she had given his meal to the next table. We appreciated her talking to us and we understood that it was a mistake but we felt our waitress could have told us sooner. I stated I felt uncomfortable eating in front of the one left out. The owner came out and asked if we were happy to which my husband said no and explained that we had not been there for a few years because our last experience had not been good and I pointed out to him that I had no knife, and only a salad fork. Because the seating is so close and the people next to us were regular customers, they got involved. They told us to shut up, stated my sister in law looked like a clown with some other mean comments about her appearance, told us that all we were doing was complaining and they were sick of it, the man bumped my chair hitting me in the back of the neck when he was leaving, he yelled something at me - I think it was about my shoes but I could not figure out what he was implying. The cost of the meal was not inexpensive and the experience left me wanting to write to someone. I know that if I try to talk to the owner I will get ridiculed when I leave after listening to him speak on the porch. I was so upset by the "clown" comment that I am still perseverating over the experience. Thank you for listening.

Family weekend was a great time!!
By Xavier, 07/24/08
Our family Grandparents - adults - and young children had a most memorable weekend at this quaint inn. The staff was limited - many providing two or three functions - but all were friendly and helpful. The rooms are small - but well done and the beds were great!!! The breakfast was more then enough - but did notice small amounts were put out at a time so restocking was needed often. The kitchen packed us lunch baskets to take out on the boat we rented and they did an outstanding job - far from the usual sandwich and chips. We alll enjoyed the great dinner menu -choosing was very difficult and all meals were elegant in flavor and service. We will go back!!!

Great Waitress
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/08
I wanted to say Thank You to Kellie for being the best waitress we have ever had!!!! She smiled and was so much fun. She was very good and professonal. It was great to have a very upbeat and perky person to wait on us and made our dinner very special. So many waitresses can be uptight and stuffy. Thank You Kellie!

Charming location, but service poor
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/11/08
We ate there a while ago for our anniversary and liked the views, the food, etc. But me and my wife were disappointed with the employees. For the money, and the drive, the service should be better than a Denny's!!!! We expected fancy treatment to go with the atmosphere, not waitresses who just got out of high school. We thought about going again this year, but decided to spend our hard-earned cash on a better dinner experience somewhere else. It's too bad, because it is a very nice place.

I can't wait to go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/27/08
the inn is beautiful an antique lovers dream. the service top notch. beds very comfy. this is a restored Inn so don't expect huge rooms( they didn't have them back then. but everything is done with love and care. it's like stepping back in time, to a slower pace.a great place to go and unwind and leave it all behind. the location is great. I dream of watching the sun set from that porch. this will be my third year going there.bravo larry and phelps

Run Hard, Run Fast, Run Silent, Run Deep... Just Run
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/08/07
To call our visit to the Inn at Newfound Lake a disappointment would be a gross understatement. The fun began when we arrived in a driving rainstorm (not the inn's fault) and found that the only parking available was in a slick, grassy field. Thank God for 4WD.. After getting drenched walking to the Inn, we approached the front desk which was not staffed. After waiting for what seemed like an eternity, one of the owners finally decided to make an appearance and check us in. The check in process itself was interesting; We have never been lectured to as part of the check in... When we asked if better parking was available, we told by the owner that the only parking was in the grass, after all we were in New Hampshire. I guess he had not heard that pavement has been available in New Hampshire for a long time now. After finding our room, which was complete with dust bunnies (completes the motif, I guess) and moldy shower curtain, we attempted to have an adult beverage in the tavern. After the waitress ignored us for about 15 minutes, despite tripping over us at least once, we finally got her attention and asked for a couple of beers. We were served another helping of attitude, at which point we left, and braved the inclement weather and headed to a local pizza house, where we were greeted and served immediately and courteously. Back at the room, we did have to install the window fan ourselves and the ceiling fan made an annoying ticking noise whenever it ran, but the bed was reasonably comfortable and made for a decent night's sleep. We did not brave the continental breakfast the next morning, as we just wanted to go. I have stayed at many inexpensive places that provided vastly better service than the Inn On Newfound Lake; for the money spent for the accommodations, there is no excuse for such poor service. The so-called "charm" of this place is easily exceeded by that of the detention camp at Guantanamo Bay.

you pay for the antiques
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/03/07
Beautiful place if you like that futsy, crowded antique ambience and rabbits (the rabbit motif was everywhere). It is on the main road, though,so you hear traffic if your room is in the front.. HOWEVER, terrible service, paltry breakfast (come on, pastries in cellophane are not a breakfast, and they kept running out of things like coffee. NOTHING for someone who is on a low-carb diet.) Bad "know-nothing" attitude on the part of most of the staff (but for one), if you could even find staff, which you couldn't, most of the time. For having so many rooms, I was shocked that there wasn't staff at the main desk most of the time. We saw someone we surmised was one of the owners a couple of times, and he barely gave us a passing glance (and the glance was not at all friendly), so warm is not a word I would use for this place--at least if you aren't "known" there. We were told we would share a bath with the elders we traveled with; they didn't tell us the bath was across the hall, and so narrow that our large aunt was very uncomfortable in it. No closets in our rooms, and a fan that was unplugged, not in the window, and the staff didn't know how to run (turned out it was thermostat-controlled, which we had to figure out after crawling under the bed to plug it in.) The bed was on the too-soft side, but this is, of course, individual preference. They also indicated that only one room was on the 2nd floor, but all the rooms were on floor 2 (we were a party of 8 staying in four rooms.) This was a problem for said aunt, who has lung cancer and diabetes and had a very difficult time climbing the stairs, especially after the steep stairs from the parking lot to the front porch. They were also reluctant to help us out with refrigerating her diabetes medicine, so we would discourage anyone who has special needs from staying there. The one room with a TV is musty smelling; seems like no one goes there much. There were pluses; we had sort of a lake view (blocked by porch roof and large telephone pole and wires), the front porch and plantings are lovely, and the robes they provided were soft and thick. Would never recommend or go there again; there are so many fish in that ocean!
