STILL THE ONE............
By elayna, 08/28/08
we too miss ed very much, and were shocked to find he sold the place, but, we were pleasantly suprised with the new owners! the girl at the desk is such a sweetheart! very pleasant, helpful and friendly. even when we had to cancel unexpectantly, there was no problem. the cottages are adorable, spacious, and comfortable, with screen porches. the sound of the river running in the back is very relaxing, and its in a great spot, near everything, but far enough away from the noise of traffic and crowds. a great place to return to without a doubt.

Still A Great Place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/13/07
We just came back from a 3 day trip to the White Mountains in New Hampshire and stayed where we have gone for the last 25 years, "The Franconia Notch Motel," in Lincoln. When we made our reservations we we're disappointed to find out that Ed O'Neil the owner had retired a couple of months before. Anyone of the regulars at this motel knows how nice Ed was and how he made a wonderful trip even that much better. He will be missed. He does live in the area and still stops by frequently. We still had our usual great relaxing time. There is a family who runs the motel now and we found them to be very pleasant and like Ed are looking to help with anything you may need while there. They have made improvements such as new beds and carpeting which was due. Our room was clean as usual and even though Ed wasn't around we found that being there is what it's all about. Where can you stay these days for three days for a couple hundred bucks and come away as relaxed as you could ever be. Granted they may not have the health spa or the exercise equipment, but that's not what we're there for. So all you regulars don't be too bummed out about Ed not being there. It's still a great place to stay.

RUDE, dirty and never will return again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/19/07
My boyfriend and I decided to try this motel, we had been there years ago when they had the previous owners. When we called we realized there were new owners which didnt bother us. We simply asked how MUCH it would be to stay 2 nights, but only reserved one night When we arrived to this motel, the lady at the front desk was RUDE because we said we were only staying one night. Threatned us they she was going to charge our credit card twice because she wasnt going to be able to rent the room for the next night.( which is crazy considering ever motel there practically had no vacancy by 5pm. because everyone takes there summer vacations) As she handed us the key to the room to looked at us with a nasty look on her face and said " you better not break anything" The room smelt so terrible. it was dirty and musty. we left the next day to go to another motel down the road which i must say was worth spending the extra 20 dollars. Never again will we return there!!

Very nice place to stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/24/06
The cabins are very nice, right on the river. Cable TV and refrigerators in the rooms. Very accessible to the Kancamagus Highway and routes 3 and 93. Very friendly owners and nice atmosphere. I will definitely go back if I get the chance.

My Only Choice
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/06/06
Every summer we drive up through New Hampshire... Our first stop being Lincoln NH. The owner/host Ed Obrien is very friendly and accomodating with any needs. It's an excellent spot on the the Pemi River and the Cottages are spacious. We wouldn't stay anywhere else... infact, we base our vacation on his avaiability. :-)

Great place, hope to get back soon
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/08/06
Sandy & I have been staying at ED's for quite a few years. Rooms are clean and cozy and I look forward to Ed's great coffee in the morning and chating with Ed & Denese. We mostly come up in July or August to relax, we have seen most of the attractions in the area through the years but still look forward to staying at Ed's. The Franconia Notch is like our second home so to speak. Bill and Sandy Benson
