DON'T GO HERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/12/11
We paid the price for this place because we wanted the ocean view. What we didn't realize and THEY DID NOT TELL US is that on Columbus Day/Canadian Thanksgiving weekend they had really loud entertainment for 3 hours. So loud that we could not sit outside and hear the ocean. So loud that we could not listen to TV in our room. And guess what . It wasn't just one night. The same thing happened the next night only it was for 4 hours then. We did call the desk and the person said all the right things. SAID all the right things but I don't think anything was done about it either night. Told us that it was only going on "this weekend." Well guess what. We were only there for the weekend. The building was sort of a tent like enclosure that had the flaps up on the side, so we went over to see what was inside. Not very many people,so why did they have to keep playing? And here is the real kicker. Went to pay our bill and they charged us for each phone call-- that we made to the front desk to complain !!!!! We made our reservation 4 months in advance in anticipation of a peaceful vacation. WRONG. Because it was a holiday weekend, we couldn't get in anywhere else. And those beautiful balconies in the pictures? Well, that is where the smokers sit. Good luck trying to breathe.

save your money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/3/11
Front staff not helpful. Rooms not cleaned until late in the day. People get up at 6 a.m. to save pool seats so if you have kids don' t plan on being able to watch them. pool closes too early 9 p.m. when I am on vacation I would hope to be able to swim a little later . Plan to go somewhere else

Great Getaway!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/13/11
Very clean and beautiful views of the Marginal Way. We were in walking distance to the beach, village area, restaurants, and directly on the marginal way. The staff were friendly, the bar area was relaxing and the bartenders were great! The resort was beautiful and our room was great. My husband and I were very pleased and look forward to visiting this resort again!

Rip off!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/28/09
Way over priced for a motel w/ a view. The pool is a zoo and the desk staff are just not interested. Stay a few streets back and blow your bucks on some great seafood.

Will never stay here again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/22/09
The place was clean, and has a great location. However, I found the staff to be quite rude. I have stayed in many places in Ogunquit, and I can say this is the only one I would never return to. Might I suggest staying at Beachmere, Terrace By The Sea, Marginal Way House, The Nordsman, or even Studio East.

paper thin walls & unsympathetic management
By pookiepie, 2/19/09
Stayed here in a Starboard ocean view room for one night on our engagment weekend and got no sleep due to the endless snoring of the man in the room next door. The walls were so thin, we could hear the TV and normal conversations from next door. When we called to complain at 1am, the person at the desk said she could "try to look for another room". We declined to move because we were getting up in a few hours and didn't understand how a new room would solve the thin wall issue. Maybe they thought we wanted to listen to some new neighbors for the rest of the night? After packing up in the morning, we waited around until almost 9am after being advised that the manager would be in at 8. The manager Ms. Dickson refused to compensate us for our trouble saying that they had tried to rectify the situation by moving us in the middle of the night. She offered to delay our 11am checkout by a couple of hours...so we could take a nap...and listen to the housekeepers vacuuming the rooms around us. I'd expect these issues from a $50 motel, not a $170 "resort".

Loved it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/9/08
My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay at the Anchorage. We were celebrating our 15th anniversary and found the rooms at the towers very nice and the beds very comfortable. The staff very friendly and accommodating. We were able to check in early and start our day. The location was perfect and we were able to walk pretty much everywhere we wanted to go. The grounds were beautiful and perfectly kept. What a place to be on such a beautiful weekend. Also, I wanted to mention the bartenders at the pool lounge, Stephen and Stu, they made the perfect drink and were fun to talk to for a bit. We can’t wait to go back. Thanks Anchorage by the Sea.

Also "A Beautiful Place by the Sea"
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/1/08
He love Ogunquit at any time of the year, but last March, my husband & I decided to spend one night in Ogunquit as a late-winter treat. It was cold & windy, with snow on the rocks by the ocean, and we weren't sure what would be open to accommodate us, so we stopped at the Anchorage. We've admired their uncredibly beautiful gardens that you pass along the Marginal Way path to Perkins Cove on our late-summer stays, so we stopped in and were able to get a room on the far side overlooking the ocean. It was a brand-new wing, and we found it spacious, quiet & very comfortable. The coffee shop on the grounds is a gem - lots of light, views of the sea, and the service there is excellent. Top notch all the way for us! We'll be staying there next weekend!

Poor Customer Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/25/08
First of all I never got to stay here an I'm glad! I was invited to attend a wedding and the bride encouraged me to reserve a room even though I was unsure if I was able to attend becasue the rooms were filling up. I ended up having to cancel the reservation more than 6 weeks in advace of the date. They refused to waive teh $20 "processing" fee for my cancellation. Having worked in the event planning business for years I have NEVER heard of this. Usually you can cancell up to 24 hours in advance without a penalty. Imagine if everytime you returned something to Targe they charged you a processing fee. Ridiculous.
