BEWARE! BED BUG Infestation! Plus Food Poisoning!
DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL! This is a warning to everyone considering this hotel. We stayed here and are now covered in bed bug bites! I was even able to catch one and bring it to the front desk! There are clear signs of the infestation all over the sheets. They are covered in small dark spots, the fecal remains of the bugs, which is a clear indication of the infestation.
There were several other guests that I had a chance to speak with that had the same red bites as I did, so this is obviously a big problem at this resort. I brought this to the attention of the management and requested to speak with the general manager but was told that she was aware of our issue but couldn't do anything and since they had offered to have our room changed which we didn't feel was going to help since the infestation was probably across the hotel and maybe worse in other rooms. We didn't want to take that chance. We were completely appalled by the reaction and attitude of the management about this very serious issue. If this were a reputable hotel, they would have done bent over backwards to rectify this situation and immediately bring in a professional extermination crew to take care of this horrible situation. I was so disappointed with this manner of service and the way they treat their guests. This hotel does not care about their guests!
Not to mention, I got food poisoning, most likely from their fish on my second day there. My husband had the same fish but my doctor said that certain types of food poisoning, especially the decaying type, can affect different parts of the fish at a different rate. So it could have been in just one bite, which I most likely had! I noticed that many of their foods were not kept at proper temperatures for instance, at their breakfast buffet, milk, which should always be kept below 38°F (3°C), was warm! It was stored in a large clear beverage container, clearly not suited to hold cold milk! Milk should be kept on ice especially when sitting for hours in a warm, humid tropical climate. If they are blatantly advertising their disregard of basic food safety rules by keeping warm milk for hours, I'm sure they are not keeping the fish at the correct temperatures either. If this sort of thing happened in the states, they would be shut down!
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that management that allows such health risks doesn't care about the bed bugs either.
I hope this will serve as a very serious warning to anyone considering staying here! Do so at your own risk! And, after you do, I'll be waiting for your horror stories!
