Narita Tobuhotel Airport, Narita-Shi

Excellent price for Japan. Very efficient staff. Very Clean, but old carpet in room. Free breakfast. What I did not like was you had to pay to use the business center computer and pay additional money if you wanted to print. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the hotel on July 3 2008 on the top floor. The carpet, walls, and building seemed very old, but the furnishings appear to be pretty new. Water pressure, beds, and such are all comfortable. Great view/access of airport. That having been said, you still don't have to worry about having to hear the roar of the airplane engines. Shuttle buses to airport is great. Make sure to get there 10 minutes early because the shuttle buses fill up very quickly. (If the bus to your terminal is full, you can take it to the other terminal and take another shuttle bus at the airport to the other terminal). Note that the pool/breakfast/dinner are NOT free. Great for a one night stay before catching your flight the next day.

If you are looking for an inexpensive, nice hotel near the airport, you can't get any closer than this one. The hotel is about 1/4 mile away from Terminal 2. With this close proximity to the airport you would think it would be noisy, but this hotel is well-insulated and you can't hear any plane noise at all. Getting to the airport is very convenient: the hotel has a free bus service that runs from 6:30am to 10:30pm. Getting from the airport to the hotel, wait at bus stop #16 at Terminal 1 or bus stop #25 at Terminal 2. The buses from the airport run from 7:45am until 11:00pm. A word to the wise: the hotel also occasionally has buses that go into Narita city so make sure you carefully read the sign posted on the side of the bus. The hotel itself is very clean, well-decorated, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The only negative comment I have (for most Japanese hotels) is that the Japanese prefer harder beds/pillows so if you are used to pillowtop mattresses and soft pillows you are going to be a little uncomfortable.

My wife and I spent three nights here in mid-february 2006. The place is very clean with friendly service. (Our strategy was to take the free hotel shuttle back to the airport and take the train in to Tokyo for sightseeing. It worked out well. With the money we saved by not lodging in Tokyo, we had more to spend elsewhere.) We also had extra baggage that needed to stay in a hotel freezer for three nights. The hotel did it for no extra charge. We got the deluxe room for about an extra ten dollars a night. It was about the size of a Holiday Inn Express room here in the States. We were also pleased that the airplane noise in the room is almost nonexistant. Thumbs up here!
