So sad that this majestic old hotel closed
By ,
In March 2011, the Grand Prince Akasaka closed permanently (although it reopened in April to house refugees from Fukushima). The hotel was only a few blocks from my Tokyo apartment and I often caught the airport shuttle there. The staff was impeccable and the hotel itself lovely and inviting. At Christmas time, the hotel had a giant Christmas tree in lights on the outside of the building. Right on the moat near the wonderful restaurants of Akasaka-Mitsuke, the old, beautiful hotel will be missed. :(

Best stay we've ever had in Tokyo
By ,
The rooms are huge by Tokyo standards. Service was excellent and staff were polite in every situation. The view from our room on the 39th floor was phenomenal. I loved that we got both yukata and terry robes, laundered and pressed every night. And being able to use the minibar refrigerator to store our drinks/foods was great. Internet in the room costs $15 per day if you brought your laptop, but you can get 30-minutes at the business center on their computer for less than $5. It's true that the in-hotel restaurants are fairly expensive, but that's the norm in Tokyo. Grab a quick bite at the Boulangerie bakery shop if you want a cheap breakfast or lunch. Or just take a short walk towards the subway station for a variety of places to eat.

Awsome Hotel
By ,
I loved this hotel. The bathroom was huge! I loved how the toilet warmed up when you sit on it. The whole room was fit for a king.I was in heaven. The view from the room was outstanding. You could see the river with the trees blooming. The service was very good. The hotel offered free Internet. Loved that.I would go back to this hotel. The only down side it was hard to find food that my family liked by this hotel.

Efficient but sterile business hotel...
By ,
I stayed in the Akasaka Prince hotel for six nights joining my spouse on a business trip. Overall, the hotel has really few flaws. On the pro side, it is super clean, runs efficiently and is located in a relatively convenient area for commuting. They have, or will provide just about anything that you might need for comfort. Some staff speak fluent English, French, German, Chinese and some simply do not. They have great maps of Tokyo in the lobby for exploring, provide complimentary umbrellas if its raining and there are always cabs available in the cul de sac. On the down side, I felt that the hotel lacked any sort of subjective "warmth". As a tourist, I felt that I was surrounded by jet lagged businessmen who just wanted to go home. The cost of the restaurants and bars was absurd. $25 dollars for a small continental breakfast? $20 odd dollar drinks? If they were of exceptional quality, maybe I'd bite, but they were far from it. Luckily, the neighborhood has some great eating options, just steps away. In conclusion, if you are on an expense account and just want a place to stay, this might be the place for you. If you are staying for pleasure or have a family, I'd suggest looking elsewhere where your money might be better spent. Try the New Otani across the street...

It was worth the money we paid. Centrally located and very close to all parts of the city
By ,
The rooms were roomy and clean. Hotel is located in the middle of the city and very close to 5 subway lines. Service was good. For the money, it is the best deal in town. About $130 including tax. Rack rate is about $250.
