Windamere Hotel, Observatory Hill

Windamere Hotel is a beautiful hotel. It reminds me of the old times when there was British were here. You can enjoy the lexury and the comfort. Well said about the place "its one of the three jewels of the raj". I really liked the "villa".

the hotes location is just perfect for tourists, who come long away getting tired of those heavy traffic and irritating noise. really u feel like heaven when u stay at this hotel.

like: location, dislike: food, rundown, service,management. needs a good shake-up. they need an international cuisine, not every traveller to india likes indain food. they need to be more flexible for their breakfast times. they need to realise that you can keep the charm that was with the needs of modern times. charm doesn't mean shabby. English speaking staff would be helpfull, and overpriced.

The colonial style rooms were the only thing I loved.The food does not suit indian tastes as it is dominantly british style.The first day we felt good trying out the bland english food but the next day we were really tired of it.Therewas a problem of running hot water as the thermostat was not working properly.

We just been there last week and the location of the hotel couldn't be any better and so is the friendliness of the staff. The room services were meticulous. The view from the balcony and terrace were superb. The food - breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner were excellent. The drinking water was good and coming from the States we had no problem. They arranged for our day trips and a car to go around. They picked us up from the airport and dropped us back with bags of goodies. We recommend this establishment very highly to all tourists. We now know where to stay in Darjeeling.
