Best Hotel SO Far In Mombasa
By Sarah, 3/2/09
Well, I stayed at Diani Reef Hotel and it was really cool. I loved all the cats but sometimes they became too much. Sometimes at the buffet they would come to the table and bother us for food (but I'm used to that because I have several cats at home). I also enjoyed the the shows every night. My favorite show was the reptile show. I got to hold all the different animals. I also enjoyed the pool because it didnt close when it started raining. The awesome thing was that the ocean was like only a few feet away and the water was really warm. Sometimes when I would walk on the beach some weird people would come and sell us over priced things and really force them on us. I was scared sometimes because they were really pushy and some people could hurt you. I also liked the little white crabs on the beach. They were really fun to play with. Also when you came up the stairs, there was a shower where you could rince yourself off incase you were sitting in the sand. One bad part about the rooms is that when you would smash a big bug, a whole bunch of ants would come in and eat it. Also, we had a master suite and on our last day there, some monkeys came on the balcony and they started messing with all of our swim suits that were drying. That was actually kinda cool. I would have to say this is the awesomest hotel I've ever stayed in.

Grand what???
Nice buffet but without the cats would have been far nicer (especially when you are highly allergic!!). Had 4 cats under our table during dinner, the guest opposite was feeding about 3 cats of her table and the couple behind us had about 5 under their table. All were begging for food. Also begging at the buffet tables but were chased away there. Simply disgusting. When the food manager came over he told us there was a cattery next door. The general manager asked US to leave for our room and food on a plate would be served there because the cats were quote: part of the wildlife and he would not do anything about it. Very friendly and serviceminded chap... Would have liked a tour through his kitchens though to see if there is any 'wildlife' there. Were there during the low season, most rooms were unoccupied but it still took them most of the afternoon to find us a beach facing (more expensive)room. One was thoroughly stinking of sigaret smoke, one overlooked palmtrees (no views), one overlooked the roof of the spa. The last was best until turned on the tap and then the whole room started stinking of sewer. The smell did not go away and the aircon was making so much noise but because of the smell we kept it going throughout the rest of the day and night. Paid for two nights but spend one. No refund or apology from anyone at this hotel. Grand hotel? rather grand theft!

Best Holiday We have Ever Had
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/11/07
We have just returned from Diani Reef Hotel and wished we could go back. We had a fantastic holiday. The food was excelent and you could even get a great cup of tea. The staff were very friendly and catered for your every need. The hotel was 1st class only critiscim they could have had more night entertainment. We also went on a 3 day safari which was the icing on the cake.

The staff is very friendly & organised! We were already booked in and it din't take more than 5 minitues to have our things taken to our room! The food is very good, veges, fuits & juices are fresh! The beaches are combed everymorning, very clean white, endless beaches! I was there for 2days but i'll sure go back for a longer holiday soon!

Paradise
By Jemo, 9/7/07
The Hotel is just remarkable. Been to several hotels but so far this has proved to be the best hotel. The Service exceptional apart from normal small hitches/delays. The Scenary just out of this world, Very clean white sandy beach, with very good 247 security with minimal or no beach boys problems. Ideal for honey mooners, Weddings and Just time away from home. Water sports facilities so good and one will need a lot of time to exhaust them all. The Rooms are all well done and everything just seems to work right with very beautiful interior decor. Not to forget the Jacuzzi's in the Deluxe and Junior Suites, Just Great. The standard rooms can pass for superiors... A hotel i plan to visit once again.

Postcard Paradise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/13/06
Dont let anyone tell you the ferry across the river is the worst, its not. Never again will you experience something so cool! Its huge, slow and packed! but worth it getting to the Spa was a mission on the roads but the drivers know how to drive blind folded! the Diani staff was extremely friendly, there when you needed them but not in your face, the food excellent! being from South Africa I found the wine prices a bit steap but not unaffordable...best beaches! long soft white sandy beaches, masses of palm trees and watersports, very safe and excellent service. I will defenitely go back
