The hotel itself is beautiful with much attention to detail and architecture evident in the quality of construction. The trip getting there is just a beautiful - a train ride into town, and a sleigh ride to the Grand Hotel will make you think you've become part of the movie Dr. Zhivago. It really is that beautiful (in the winter months anyway). Spend the addtional money and opt for the dining package. The meals are as wonderful as the mountain ambience, and you will not leave the table unsatiated. Staff is very helpful and friendly. I can really think of nothing close to negative to report except for the cost - but you should be aware of that small aspect of your trip before you arrive. Be prepared to be awe-struck.

Excellent location, impeccable service, and outstanding rooms. Upon arrival at the train station, we were met by Grand Hotel representative for short ride to this centrally-located property with awe-inspiring view of the Matterhorn. Front office and dining room staff were outstanding and made sure the guest experience at the hotel was second to none. Dinner and breakfast at Prato Borni restaurant were presented beautifully with Swiss precision and perfection. Rates may appear to be pricey, but worth every dollar. Can't wait for return visit.

We stayed in June 2002. The rates during the summer months are less, but the service is not. We did half board--which meant our room plus dining. The dining the the hotel restaurant was amazing!!!!Seven courses and all the attention you could want or not want. The hotel was great, the carriage ride from the train was great, food was superb,---however, if hiking the Matterhorn be aware that restaurants and such coming down the mountain do not open until July in some places. Definately an experience of a lifetime. Everyone there was superb!!!!

Upon our arrival we were met by a horse drawn carriage and taken to the beautiful Zermatterhoff hotel. We were greeted by Nando Fungalli,(the best concierge on the planet) and staff who attended to every detail and our every need. Our room was beautiful and exceptionally clean. The beds were perfect with soft down comforters. The double windows opened to a portico of flowers and a breathtaking view of the magnificent Matterhorn mountain. They have an excellent Spa The delicious full breakfast buffet has everything including hot fresh croissants and hot chocolate. Centrally located it is a short walk to any of the lifts/trains up to the Matterhorn. Absolutely Glorious!
