Silver Maple Inn, Bridgeport

For the price this place is a ripoff! No A/C, tiny bathroom / shower, small closet. Window does not stay open. Everything is second rate (or lower).

pro: cute little courtyard with grass, trees and chairs. con: the manager who lives on-site can't be bothered to answer the phone, apparently before 8 am is too early for her. and the weekend we were there she had a bunch of people over and stumbled in at 1 am very intoxicated.

Left my jacket by accident in the closet when checking out and came back a few hours later to get it. The jacket had "disappeared" (despite the fact that the room was still empty) and the receptionist/manager was very unfriendly and clearly annoyed at being asked to look for it. How difficult is it to keep any left-behind property for a few days in case the guest comes back to get it? Clearly shows that the staff of Silver Maple don't care about their guests. It's a shame, as the receptionist when we checked in the day before was very nice.

I didn't like that the heater was very noisy. I thought it might explode. Every time it went on it woke me up so I did not get to sleep much. Other than that, the room was adequate. Bathroom is small. It could use a little sprucing up, but was not bad value for the money (AAA rate). It seemes to serve mostly hunters, and off-road vehicle riders, at least when I was there in the late fall. It is a bit remote tho'
