Beware Cancelation Trap!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/25/11
We had a very good experience dealing with the Golden Plough right up until we needed to cancel our reservation. They had received and responded to each of our e-mails. They have a 48 hour cancellation policy and when our plans changed I sent on e-mail on the Monday before our planned Friday stay. I "replied" to a previous e-mail from them which used the same e-mail address I had used for all of our correspondence. I didn't hear from them again, and quite honestly didn't think a thing about it as my week was very busy. Then, on the Monday after our planned trip we received a canned "Thank you for your recent visit" e-mail. I contacted them letting them know that we had cancelled and sending them a copy of the e-mail that I had sent them, with the date and time stamp. They didn't care. Because I didn't have a cancellation number which they never gave me, they still charged me and would not even discuss the possibility that it was their mistake. They said that they might give us a discount on a future stay. THERE WILL ABSOLUTELY BE NO FUTURE STAY and we have filed a complaint with the BBB.
