Great spot on the beach
By Ms Mae, 03/24/08
My husband, my daughter and I stayed in one of the ground floor rooms so we could walk directly out from our room right down to the beach. It is a little shabby but the location is so perfect and the rooms are large for the price!

For normal families
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/05/08
If you just want a place for the family to hang out, go to the beach, eat food, walk around, be cozy, cook together, it's perfect. It's a little dated, but that is part of it's charm. Right on the Beach!!! Has it's own access path to beach. We have stayed there in all four seasons and are never disappointed. Fall is best, warmer and families are out in full force. Winter is breath-taking during storms. Spring Break is not college-student irritating. Wireless internet is a plus! In a more family-oriented area of town. Fun little shops, grocery store and coffee house within walking distance. Fires on the beach at night are standard. Right by Moe's which is affordable, excellent family dining. Go early to beat the crowds! Kite shop, ice-cream shop with a cool little arcade for kids. Right off main drag for easy sightseeing, but far enough off for quiet. Overlooked by many snobs.

Good location, reasonable price

Liked it because it was by the bay and was a very good location. Kids loved it. Only wish that it was a little bit more clean. Have been there twice. Have all the amneties.

Not likely to return!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/08/06
We also stayed in room #207. The room looked like someone left in a hurry and didn't have enough time to clean the place. The bathroom toilet was dirty and had not been cleaned. There was no extra toilet paper in the bathroom. The shower curtain was missing a plastic liner so the water ended up all over the floor. The dishwasher was full of dishes that had not been put away. The kitchen was stocked with dishes and pots and pans but they were old and some of the pots and pans needed to be replaced. There was no pan for example to fry bacon in order to have eggs and bacon for breakfast. There appeared to be a set of dishes that went together at one time but due to use and breakage they had not been replaced. The bed was dreadful! No other way could describe it, a double bed with a plywood board that was larger then the mattress so that if you weren't careful getting into bed you might hurt your shin. The whole condo needs to be done over new bed dishes, pots and pans etc...

found by accident
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/30/06
I was staying at the Spanish Head and took a walk to the Pines resturant. I stummbled upon the Dock in the Bay(not that name at that time) and we have stayed there several times. My wife even gave them a picture of a sunset she took from our room for the office. It was a perfect place and close to Moe's, Bay house, Glenden Beach, and the Pines.

Beautiful, bay in and bay out
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/22/05
We were given an anniversary gift stay at Dock of the Bay some years ago. Looking out the sliding patio door which is just a few steps from the beach sand, we could see sea lions cavorting in the bay during high tide and cranes stalking crustacians at low tide. Our eyes got big as we watched a man walk a long distance across the water, later discovering that at that time he was looking for crabs in water was about one inch deep. Because it is a bay, the water can be warm in pockets, and it is safe to play where the surf settles into gentle waves. Just down the beach is a dock, with a Moe's Restaurant right beside. From the Dock of the Bay window you can see the surf breaking, so the best of both bay and surf are right there. Each unit is a condominium let out to travelers, similar in many ways to a motel. The kitchens are complete, with each individual condo owner supplying its basics. Interior decoration is also up to the individual condo owners so there is a definite difference in feel from one unit to another. All ground level units have direct access to the beach, and all upper units have decks. We have stayed in different units and have been more than pleased with every one.

Way better than a motel room!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/13/05
Stayed at two ocean front places that were OK, but we really enjoyed our stay at Dock of the Bay! The view from the top floor, (3rd floor), was great. Situated right on Siletz Bay, the view was ever changing as the tide came in and out. We could see the ocean beyond the dock by Mo's restaurant, (though it was a distant view). And we love Mo's... always have to get their clam chowder! But there also are several other good places to eat within a 2 or 3 minutes walking distance. Even a nice IGA store with a good selection of wine, (our room had a full kitchen with a dishwasher). The room was clean. Loved having a seperate bedroom, (my wife slept in while I had my coffee on the deck and gauked at the view). Saw several Blue Heron, Osprey, and even a Bald Eagle. And when we walked down to the ocean, (about a 5 minute walk), we saw sea lions sunning themselves on the beach. We like staying at places where you can park the car, and easily walk for everything you need. Dock of the Bay satisified that with 5 stars!

We will go back for a week every year, stayed in #207
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/25/05
Great location, near Mo's restaurant.Large enough to be comfortable and have all the things you would expect from a condo, but small enough to be a friendly place to vacation.

Our home in Newport! We happened upon Dock of the Bay by accident but now intend to make it our annual vacation home.
