what is all the fuss about?
By Joy, 8/3/11
We had a room in Valley View. The room was very small. The carpet and ceiling were stained. The Devil's Pool is over priced and not the quality you would expect at this type of resort. My husband got a breaded ribeye which he had to return because the breading was thicker than the steak. My son and I had the Trout, which after eating, we both left hungery. We paid $19 for half a trout....really Trout is right in your backyard give the customer the whole thing. The grounds are beautiful and the employees were very nice. The lazy river was a disappointment. It was too lazy(slow) and some people floating that had way to much to drink. Some people should remember it's not a float trip...tone it down.

Our Favorite Place
By Megan K, 1/29/10
My husband and I have been guests at Big Cedar four times. The first time we stayed, it was our honeymoon. We were treated like we were the only people in the place. Three out of four times, we stayed in the cottages. The most recent time, we stayed in the cabins by the water. They are a little more expensive, but worth it. Why worth it? Well, the food it kind of expensive. If you rent the cabin there is a full kitchen and grill. So you could prepare your own food & not have to pay for dinner at the restaurants. Although Devil's Pool is slightly expensive, Buzzard's Bar has wonderful food for a very reasonable price. Wed.-Sun, they have live entertainment and it's wonderful/ funny. Worman House is the location for breakfast. This is a recent change, but I have to admit at first I was a little hesitant of breakfast having a new venue. Honestly, it was a fantastic idea on BC's part. The vistas are amazing. It is our favorite thing to drink our coffee and look over the lake. I read a review of a person having a horrible time. I do not know how that is possible, but lets say they did have a horrible time. I no for a fact, the folks at Big Cedar would and will do whatever they can to ensure you leave with a smile on your face and wonderful memories in your heart. If you do not tell them of your experience nothing will change. I promise they will not tolerate staff that does not give you the experience you deserve. I 100% believe that. We had a run in with an awful waitress. I filled out the comment card and with in a few days, someone called me to apologize and I received a comp for a meal. Problem solved. I know this is wordy, but my husband and I love this place. When we go on vacation, we stay here. I have and do recommend Bid Cedar Lodge. Sign up for their newsletter to receive promos. This sounds like I am a paid person by BCL, I promise I am not. :)

A Review from Two 20-Somethings
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/4/09
What we did was ask for the cheapest room available...$153 a night in early June weekdays. We recommend doing this because... we were rarely in the room, it's the amenities you are paying for. There was a lazy river where you could float on (and bring beer on), we had the most fun at the swimming hole (the newest and nicest of the pools). You will deal with a TON of families and kids. But if you are looking for a rustic getaway for a decent price, this is it. Bring your own beer, though they say you can't bring it into pool areas, lots of times there's no one to stop you. In fact, employees told us they just want you to have a good time. But... don't waste your money on an expensive cabin! If you don't have kids... or even if you do... there's so much to do here, you don't have to leave the resort (and why would you). Branson itself for people our age is cheesy, but this area is beautiful. Rent a boat, go horseback riding. We wish the Buzzard Bar was better... maybe on the lake or something, but it's the place to eat because it's the cheapest. Our 3 night stay with renting a boat and eating at least one meal a day there cost about 750.

Perfect vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/6/09
We went on January 1 and enjoyed the Christmas lights which were still on display. Our accomodation was the private 1 bedroom cabin which was charming. The fireplace made for the perfect setting in our cabin. The kitchen was great for light meals and we also enjoyed dining in two of the restaurants. The shower has multi-heads which is awesome. Although the spa is not large and luxurious, a massage is definetely worth the money. We are returning with our 4 grown kids this spring for the two day Orvis fly fishing school at Dogwood Canyon-sure to be a memory maker. A vacation at Big Cedar is the ultimate in rest, relaxation and recreation!

30 Trips and Still Going Back...
By Maddy B, 3/12/09
Big Cedar Lodge is truly and honestly my favorite place in this entire world. I'm young and have been to many places but this place is very worth the energy and money to go to. I've been going to Big Cedar for over 10 years now, with about an average of 3 trips a year. I just love the whole environment - over 800 acres of gorgeous trees and the view of Table Rock Lake is unforgettable. I get the best feeling in my stomach when I think about going back! I love the focus on being "green." Big Cedar encourages you to hang up the towels you would not mind re-using, and the ones that need to be cleaned/replaced can be placed on the floor! What a wonderful way to save water and energy! The employees are so sweet and care about any problem you could ever have, so your vacation is as worry-free as it can be! I would recommend this resort to families, with or without kids as it is completely kid friendly, and big groups /reunions /business trips would make a nice time!

very nice
By Nathanaels, 2/2/09
Big Cedar Lodge is a very nice place. They keep the grounds up very well the lodge in the mountains was a brilliant Idea. the staff caters to you and is very nice any thing you want they are more and glad to get it for you and bring it to your room a person could stay in their room/cabin the whole stay and be comfortable. The only bad thing that we saw is some of the prices are a bit to pricey. two bowls of chilli dilivered to the cabin costs 18$ but overall a great place to take in the views and relax. another perk is its just 10 mins south of branson

We never want to leave!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/18/08
We have gone 3-4 times for the past 14 years and NEVER want to leave. We love the cabins and generally stay there but the Falls Lodge is wonderful too. Is it pricey.....a bit but well worth it! We hope to continue our tradition of going multi times a year for many, many years to come.

YOU PAY FOR THE NAME
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/27/08
Nice setting. Overpriced. Very poorly lit roadway at night. Poorly lit bathrooms. Construction on the cabin next door was noisy. Contractor's took up lots of parking space. We returned from Branson shows one night and no parking available at our cabins. Director Jamie Keys unwilling to make adjustment/refund. You have the feeling that Big Cedar doing you a favor to let you stay.

UNFORGETTABLE!!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/28/08
Wow..to start..weh you drive in..it is warm and cozy...a feeling of being in the forest. The lodges are beutiful from the drive in. YOu drive through the waterfall and fall in love right from there. It is like there is love in the air....The staff is awesome at the front desk..they make you feel like you are at home. We stayed in cabin 557..my husband and I for our anniversary. It was beautiful and I didn't want to leave. Two days is not enough. The weather was snowy one day and 70 degrees the next and it was wonderful to see the grounds with and without snow. I took amazing pictures that hang on my bedroom wall of the waterfall and the lodge. They look like a postcard. The Devils Den has awesome food and amazing service. Nothing to complain about. The food was delicious and plenty of it. The carrot cake..amazing! Breakfast omlets are delicious int he morning. Walking the grounds is peaceful and romantic at night. You feel alone in a wonderland all your own. This place exceeds expectations and we will be back frequently! Worth any drive you have to make to get here! If it is your anniversary or birthday tell them and you will have a wonderful treat waiting for you! Visit the gift shop too They have some things you might need in the kitchen if you are there and you are cooking! They do not have milk for the treats in your room on the property..so if you are a milk and home made cookie person..come prepared! Enjoy!

Feels like home...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/19/08
I return numerous times throughout the fall, winter, and spring to enjoy the wonderful beauty of nature this resort portrays. No detail has been forgotten in accomodations, amenities, and hospitality. It is one of a kind! Don't forget to go to Dogwood Canyon to see another of Johnny Morris's passions!
