Personal touches and more...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/24/08
We felt as though we were welcomed into a family or friends home. It was open and inviting. Special touches like Creme Sherry, chocolates, logs for the fireplace, Boutique bath and shower toiletries, beautiful color scheme and bedding.

2nd visit not so good
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/15/08
We stayed at the Harbor Lights in 2006 and really had a nice time. The room was nice though we cleaned the tub jets before we used it. We returned in May of 2007 and it had gone downhill. No more hot entrees at breakfast , ants in the bath. They only give one roll of TP at a time. So everyday I had to go get another roll and another log for the fire. The owners are really nice but we won't go back.

Pretty Mediocre
By Kellie, 9/18/07
My husband and I recently (September 07) stayed the night at Harbor Lights for a weekend getaway. It was our first time trying a bed and breakfast so perhaps my expectations were too high. It is a good value I suppose but you could have gotten the same feel with probably a nicer room at a hotel for less. The decorating in the dining room and sitting area was very nice, but I was definately disappointed with our room. There was mildew all around the tub, no paint color with terrible outdated motel furniture. The picture you see on the site with the nice red curtains around the jacuzzi tub... yeah not in our room, it had a nasty old bath curtain and mildew. While the tub did work fine, the bathroom only looked good once the lights were off. There was not a ounce of coziness or romance in our room that we did not have to create ourselves. I thought that's why people went to B&B's for that warmth that's lacking in hotels. The continental breakfast was decent, I like yogurt and danish, so that was fine I guess... Honostly the owner creeped me out a little. I don't think he meant to, he didn't do or say anything inappropriate, but he just gave me the heebee jeebies for whatever reason. Overall it wasn't a BAD experience but it had the potential to be a MUCH BETTER experience, and I would probably not return there again any time soon without exploring the no doubt better options in the area.

Would love to stay much longer
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/13/07
My husband and I stayed at Harbor Lights on Depoe Bay and loved it. My rating system is 3 C's and 2S's(convenience, cleanliness, comfort, service, and scenery). This place rated excellent on all of these and offered even more. We enjoyed the friendly and special breakfasts and also the bar. I wish we could have stayed much longer and hopefully will be able to do so when we retire in about a year. Be sure if you stay there you get up early one morning to see the Coast Guard raise the flag. The ceremony didn't take long but was special. You might think this was more of a guy place (harbor/fishing)but I (a girly girl)loved it as much as my husband did. Also, it's not too far a walk to some neat shops. Lorraine

Harbor Lights
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/28/06
This place formerly Gracies has gone through a major renovation since purchased in 2005. New carpeting, bedding, paint, fine artwork, etc etc we couldn't believe how nice this place was and how friendly the staff was either. Apparently the new owner had a B & B in Newport and has just come over here in the past 6 months. There was also a full bar where several of us celebrated out anniversaries recently. His manager makes an awesome cake. His banana bread is to die for. Priced about half of what the other B and Bs in the area are charging and quitely situated overlooking the harbor I even got to check my emails but don't tell my wife. Very highly recommended. I magine the other comment was during its remodel.

Beware! New Owner!
By Liz, 5/23/05
To look at the website, you'd think Gracie's Landing would be a wonderful romantic B&B. Beautiful rooms, (photos on the website) notes about a "hot & hearty" breakfast, "spa" in the room, etc. We paid $135 for one night and we got: An ancient whirlpool tub with cigarette burns on it. The hot & hearty breakfast was an open loaf of grocery store bread, a dirty toaster, a half-used jar of jelly, and so on. There was something in the abandoned warmer, but I didn't look. We went to the Sea Hag for breakfast...the owner was sorry we got into such a situation, since she used to own Gracie's Landing...it's now known as "Harbor Lights". The owner seems to be absentee, there was only an employee there who enjoyed turning his radio station up to ear-splitting levels. Stay here at your own risk, folks. It's nothing like it used to be. I should note that the building is lovely, with a nice paint job, the view is very good, and each room has a private balcony. But that's it.
