Great middle class motel (especially if you have pets).

I'm writing this review from the actual motel, and it's not as bad as some reviewers are making it out to be. If you've never been to Morro Bay before, you should understand how the central coast works. Every hotel is either VERY expensive and very gourmet, or it's a motel from several decades ago that's a bit rough around the edges. This is the latter.
Pros:
1) The insides have been cosmetically upgraded recently, and it's not as bad as some of the Morro Bay places I've stayed. (If you want a really luxurious experience, however, get a suite at Ascott Suites up the street for about twice the cost).
2) We're staying here because it takes pets, and they were really cool about our dogs. We have smaller dogs, and they cut the rate we'd pay for dogs in half to help us out. (The pet rooms are separated from the rest, so no worries if you don't have pets with you)
3) The desk help is nice and has worked out all of our requests.
4) A few blocks from the Embarcadero and the beach and great shopping and dining (but virtually every hotel in Morro Bay is in the same stretch of road, so that's no big deal).
5) Easy, strong wifi connection with no password troubles.
6) The king bed is spacious and solid and clean.
Cons:
1) It is a bit run down, but that's to be expected based on the price.
2) The tv's don't have HBO though they claim it does.
3) The rooms claim to have mini fridges, and the motel only has a couple. We got one, but we checked in early and had to convince the desk to deliver us one.
4) We have a trick door lock that either won't lock or won't unlock easily pending on the weather.
5) Right on a busy street, so the traffic is pretty steady. It's very quiet at night fall, though, when this city goes to bed early as it always does.
I've stayed in better, I've stayed in worse. If you have dogs, this is a great option assuming you don't want to camp. If you don't have pets, you can get the same type of room for the same type of price all up and down Morro Bay's main street. It's not swank, but to get that you'll literally pay double the price here.
As a final tip, you should call the actual motel itself to make the reservation. We have AAA, and the price was only $95 a night. The best I found for this week online was about $115 (it's the week of the fair, so rates are a bit higher).
