Lido International Hotel, Desenzano del Garda

Incredable views from paid for balcony rooms, easy walk 10 - 15 minutes from nice town. Great, inexpensive boat trips. This Hotel is classed as 4 star by Thompson/Crystal. Choice of two courses main meals need to be ordered at breakfast. During four mornings some part of the breakfast was not available. Waiting staff are young enlish girls, all very nice but no Italian dining experience. There is no lounge, just a few chairs in the reception corridor. We had to lose our cool just to obtain brown bread. All food ok, just a poor dining experience and all agreed not 4 star. We were advised that the star rating, Thompson's own, is based on facilities, not the quality of facilities. No waiter service on terrace. Two staff left during our first week, were not replaced, but the hotel is full until the season end.
