Great stay, would easily go back!
By ,
Stayed there for Carnivale in Feb 2011. Good location, very good breakfast includes fresh, fresh croissants, fruit salad, breads and bagels, tasty scrambled eggs (but no sausage or bacon), good orange juice and coffee, all in a nice, bright airy room. Eat enough and you might not need lunch. Staff were very nice and helpful. Room had two queen beds with a nice bathroom (with a bowl sink), a flat screen tv and dvd player (bring your own dvds or rent at lobby). Room was tastefully decorated, warm, and had a 'artificial' fireplace in it (for ambiance I suppose). Our room had a nice (but distant) view of the Chateau Frontenac, and was nicely placed in the middle of the walled city (easy access to Rue St. Jean and the Grande Allee). Elevator was a little slow, and parking was an extra charge of $30 or so per day (probably no different than the other hotels). Use of laptop with high speed in lobby was nice as we did not bring ours. Had a very good time, brought two youngsters with us for Carnivale, and would easily go back or recommend to friends/family. Less expensive than Clarindon, which was recommended to us.

Not overly friendly
By ,
Although the room was nice, the staff wasn't overly friendly or forthcoming. The breakfast bar was nice, the room was clear, but neverthless we wouldn't recomment it because the staff was very snotty - and the price elevated enought to expect a better service.

Great Stay Special Service
By ,
I spent two wonderful days in Quebec. My room was larger than I expected for the modest price. Clean, comfortable, quiet and close to everything. I drove to Montreal and realized I had left my suitcase at the hotel. The same day my suitcase was in Montreal. Bob L. From Connecticut

More than expected !
By ,
We booked this hotel online, with very little to go on. After a "rough" two nights in Montreal, we were a little apprehensive. We found the Hotel Champlian to be a very nice surprise. Newly renovated, very clean and a very nice staff willing to assist in many ways. The room includes a very nice breakfast bar, a nice way to start off the day without trudging around looking for an early good breakfast place. We were concerned about the rooms on the street side, but the owner/operator quickly took care of that and we ended up in a superior room with an eat in kitchen area, stove, refrigerator, microwave and coffe maker ! The location is central with easy access out the back side to the Citadel, Parliamnet and more and out the front side to the shops, Hotel Frontenac and the water front. Overall a great experience and we would definitely go back (The Buckeyes and Flatlanders).

Found a gem !
By ,
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in October. Staff is friendly and attentive and the owners making feeling you at home. The location is prime in the walls near everything. Rooms are very comfortable, clean. The decor is outstanding: silk curtains, cotton bedsheets, down conforter and pillows, high end quality furniture and lamps, also a nice reading corner in the room near the fireplace. The sink in the bathroom was so ah... a black bowl with red fish, incredible. On the walls of the corridor brown leather... There is a nice breakfast buffet in the morning. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate in the lobby near the fireplace all day long and hot cookies in the afternoon. Whats great is that the price here is a bargain compared to the Frontenac which we had a so nice view from our room. No doubt, I would return to this hotel again. travel lover, san francisco

great stay
By ,
We moved to Hotel Champlain after an unsatisfactory night in another hotel. We were made to feel very welcome and were upgraded to a king room for our honeymoon. The staff were very friendly and helpfull and the continental breakfast was nice with a little somthing different every day. Complimentary computer/internet access was a bonus.

Sketchy
By ,
I stayed at Hotel Champlain for business, and I can sum up the experience in one word: Sketchy. The hotel had recently undergone renovations I can hardly imagine how terrible it was before that. Here are the things that made my visit unsatisfactory: 1) Room: dark and cold, the floors were tile and the bed felt like a wooden board. There was a hole in the bathroom ceiling. 2) Hotel services: the room didnt have an iron and they wouldnt bring one up. I had to iron a blouse in the breakfast area! The elevators never worked. There were no signs indicating the exits. Im not sure I would have been able to get out of that place had there been a fire! 3) Afterwards: when I realized I had forgotten my drivers license in the room, they wanted ME pay to have it sent back to me. Terrible.
