Carriage House Inn, Bonners Ferry

We enjoyed our 3 day stay at Carriage House Inn and RV Park. The staff was amazing. The rooms are straight out of the 50's....very nice. The Inn is a good value; clean, comfortable, and friendly.

From the outside it looks quite nice but check out the rooms before you stay here. There was a group of 5 of us. One couple had a tiny bathroom with a grungy shower curtain that should have been discarded. Lobby smelled like smoke, rooms old & musty & outdated. Bedpsread had holes, floor uneven. We were charged way too much (in excess of $80) for this dump. Located on main highway so noisy. Could not wait to leave, not one thing that I liked. Definitely would not recommend to anyone.

Motel cites deluxe rooms, queen beds with kitchens. We travel quite abit so fancy fixtures aren't an issue: we had to stay here as there were no other openings at local motels otherwise we would have pitched a tent somewhere or slept in our car. Biggest drawback: dirty, dirty, dirty! Shower curtain was crusty brown at bottom and looked like it hadn't been cleaned or changed in years. Tabletops and other surfaces were dirty or dusty, window blinds were non-existent or dirty, and the bed covering was stained underneath. The 'kitchen' is actually a microwave and old small fridge - they do work however. RV park in the rear of the motel is a nondescript patchy lawn with a few trees. It's actually just sad - if this place was cleaned up it could be a pretty nice and affordable place to stay. Love Bonners Ferry and everyone we've met here is really nice.

This motel looks ok on their website, but beware. We arrived there and made the mistake of not looking at the room before paying. Just a few of the "features": hole in the window like someone threw a rock at it, chip in the TV screen, strong smoke smell in the lobby, smoke smell and cigarette burns in the non smoking room, tiny (really really tiny and grungy) bathroom, door that didn't seal well enough to block out any noise or light, nasty stains on the furniture, and it wasn't vacuumed and there was still trash stuffed behind the TV. The website claims that the rooms are spacious and quaint, but I'd call them grungy, stinky, and just plain scary. I'm also not a germophobe or a very picky person, but it took me about 3 minutes to decide to ask for my money back so I could find a place I could stand to sleep in. It does look like other parts of the motel might be newer, but based on the room I was in the place was downright scary. The attendant at the desk graciously refunded our money without any trouble. The Log Inn just north of town is infinitely cleaner and actually charming. Did I mention it's very clean? Go there instead unless these guys improve their facilities and cleaning service.

My sister and I returned to Bonners after growing up there in the 60's, we absolutly loved our stay. The room was clean the service was outstanding the location was perfect. We are definatly coming back this year and bringing our brother.

This place was like home, large room, quaint, and I travel alot, over 2 thousand miles per month. If your a bit snooty, dont stay here, these people are the salt of the earth. The gentleman who greeted me also talked to me the next day an hour south in Sandpoint and actually recognized me! I will stay here every time I am in Bonners.

I strongly recommend you check out the room before taking it. The room we stayed in was dusty and the carpet needed a good vacuuming. No water pressure and the slow trickle of hot water out of an ancient brass shower nozzle meant taking a cold shower. No maid service on our second day. Not a bargain at $60.

Clean room. No place to hang clothes or jackets. Thin walls. We woke up to a couple in another room making noise at 4 am. Upgrades have made this motel nicer. Staff was very nice.
