Alameda Motel, San Jose

I strongly recommend against staying at this hotel. I made reservations well in advance of the Thanksgiving holiday to make room at my girlfriend's house for visiting family. We were told on the telephone the rate was $50 and when we checked in, the rate had changed to $65. When I asked about the increase, the very rude manager stated "you are lucky to get a room at all". The non-smoking room wreaked of stale cigarettes, the television did not work properly, the hotel charged for ice and local telephone calls.

This is the absolute worst place I've ever stayed, Ever! There was actually graffiti on the furniture, the bed was a million years old with gross sheets, there were marks that looks like brown spit that had dripped down the walls, the shower was moldy and gross! They don't even provide shampoo, not that I would have showered there anyway. The walls were super thin and I could hear everything going on outside our room - not to mention the bathroom window didn't shut all the way or lock and it was freezing! The place is a hellacious dump - stay away!
